Golden Corral’s buffet at 19120 E. Valley View Parkway in Independence, Missouri, was reported to have Sunday, October 4, 2026, as its last day. The Kansas City Star reported the planned closure and said the restaurant had operated for about 15 years. Because that date is now past, the available report establishes the planned final day, not whether the restaurant ultimately closed; check directly with Golden Corral before visiting.
What was reported about the Independence restaurant?
The Kansas City Star reported that two managers said the Independence buffet was winding down over the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, with October 4 set as its final operating day. The newspaper described the restaurant as having been open for about 15 years, based on property records and newspaper archives; it did not provide an exact opening date. The Star’s report, reproduced with its reporter credit, is the source for those details.

The report did not give a reason for this location’s closure. The Star said it contacted Golden Corral corporate for comment but received no response, so explanations involving a lease, sales, finances, or a chainwide restructuring are not established.
Are other Golden Corral restaurants near Kansas City still open?
Employees at the Kansas City North restaurant at 8800 N. Skyview Ave. and the Olathe restaurant at 13440 S. Blackbob Road told the Star those locations were not closing, to their knowledge. That is staff-reported status, not a company guarantee or confirmation of their current hours. Check with the restaurant before making a trip.

Can customers still use an Independence gift card?
The Star advised customers to use gift cards before the reported closure. Since October 4, 2026, has passed, check the balance and current redemption terms directly with Golden Corral rather than assuming the Independence restaurant or another location will accept the card.
