God of War Sons of Sparta has not been announced as a native PC release. Sony lists it for PlayStation 5, while a community post dated October 4, 2026 reports running the PS5 game build on Windows through the AnyPS5 compatibility project. Its author says the game reached around 60 FPS on one PC, but also reports crashes, glitches and incomplete testing.
Is God of War Sons of Sparta officially available on PC?
No. Sony’s reviewed announcement, support page and PlayStation Store information list God of War Sons of Sparta for PS5; they do not announce a native PC version. Sony says the game released on February 12, 2026, with digital Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. Sony’s support page and launch announcement describe the official platform and release.
The Windows report is different: it describes a PS5 game build running through AnyPS5, a community compatibility project. That is not a Sony PC launch, and it does not establish that Sony has announced or ruled out a PC version in the future.
What does the 60 FPS PC report actually show?
A Reddit user reported “Around 60 FPS on my machine (5800X3D, RTX 5070 Ti)” while running the game on Windows through AnyPS5. The author says the game code runs directly on the CPU and that the compatibility layer reimplements missing PS5 system libraries and GPU functions, comparing the approach to Wine and DXVK. This is one poster’s result, not an independent benchmark, official performance specification or guarantee for other PCs. No independent published performance statistics are established in the reviewed sources, so the result does not support a general GPU recommendation or a promise of 60 FPS on different hardware.
Stability and testing limits
The same post reports shader glitches during first play, an intro video that can pause on a dark frame, and occasional crashes or freezes. The author says testing was incomplete, limited to NVIDIA hardware, and performed only on game version 01.008.001. The report is dated October 4, 2026, and may no longer describe the project’s current compatibility.

What kind of game is Sons of Sparta?
Sony describes God of War Sons of Sparta as a canon 2D action platformer set during Kratos’ youth, when he trains at the Agoge alongside his brother Deimos. Mega Cat Studios is Sony’s partner on the game, and the writing team is from Santa Monica Studio. The announced features include spear-and-shield combat, divine artifacts called the Gifts of Olympus, familiar and new creatures, and hand-drawn pixel animation.
