Use the Appearance Pedestal on the Shore to change Kratos’s look in God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla. Unlock more appearances through Valhalla’s rewards and progression; the armor looks in this mode are cosmetic and do not change stats or grant perks.
How to change Kratos’s appearance in Valhalla
- Reach the Shore in Valhalla.
- Interact with the Appearance Pedestal, the mode’s hub for cosmetic rewards.
- Choose an available appearance. You can mix and match looks between attempts without changing your combat stats.
PlayStation describes Valhalla armor as appearance-only, so choose a look for style rather than its expected effect on combat. PlayStation’s Valhalla announcement also notes that players can mix and match their favorites between attempts.

How to unlock more Valhalla appearances
Valhalla awards additional appearances as you progress, including rewards tied to completing its story and looks exclusive to the mode. The official guidance does not provide a complete item-by-item list of unlock conditions. For a locked appearance, check the condition displayed in the game and meet that requirement; avoid assuming every item unlocks in the same way.

Claim qualifying Valhalla rewards in New Game Plus
Some Valhalla-exclusive appearances and story-completion rewards can be claimed in God of War Ragnarök’s New Game Plus (NG+). After completing Valhalla’s main story:
- Start a new NG+ playthrough or continue an existing NG+ save.
- Open the Lost Items Chest to collect qualifying Valhalla rewards.
- Visit the shop and purchase the new armor appearances made available there.
This route applies to qualifying rewards, including appearances such as Flawless Ares and Flawless Zeus armor; it is separate from changing your look inside Valhalla.

Valhalla pedestal and base-game transmog are different
Valhalla’s Appearance Pedestal changes appearances within the mode. The base game’s transmog system instead applies an inventory appearance to eligible equipment, and PlayStation’s guidance says the equipment must be Level 9. In NG+, the appearance is applied through the transmog menu to Level 9-or-higher armor.

Dark Odyssey collection availability
PlayStation announced the Dark Odyssey collection for March 20, 2025, at no additional cost to God of War Ragnarök owners on PlayStation and PC. The announced collection includes a Kratos appearance, breastplate, bracers and belt, an Atreus vestment, and a Freya witch frock. In the base game, the collection can be claimed from any Lost Items Chest; in Valhalla, it is received automatically. Read PlayStation’s dated announcement.
