Choose PS5 for a straightforward console setup and the DualSense features PlayStation highlights; choose PC if your existing hardware meets your target and you want unlocked frame rates, upscaling choices, or ultrawide support. PC is not automatically faster: results depend on your components, settings, drivers, display, and game updates, and the official specifications are targets rather than a guarantee for every system.

What the PC version adds
Frame-rate, resolution, and aspect-ratio options
The PC release supports unlocked frame rates, compatible 4K output, and 21:9 ultrawide and 32:9 super-ultrawide displays. It also supports NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS 1.3, including frame generation where supported by the technology and compatible hardware. These options provide flexibility, not a guaranteed performance or image-quality advantage over PS5. PlayStation’s PC features and requirements

PlayStation’s August 8, 2024 PC specification lists average frame-rate targets at native resolution without upscaling. They are publisher targets, not promises of sustained performance in every scene. Each tier lists Windows 10 64-bit and a 190 GB SSD.
#1 Best Overall
- Feel your journey through the Norse realms, made possible by immersive haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality.
- Take advantage of multidirectional 3D Audio; hear enemies approaching from any direction. (3D audio with stereo headphones (analog or USB))
- Bask in the beautiful worlds you travel through, brought to life by precise art direction and arresting attention to detail.
- Switch between full 4K resolution at a targeted 30 frames per second, or dynamic resolution upscaled to 4K at a targeted 60fps. (4K resolution requires a compatible 4K TV or display)
| Tier | Publisher target (native resolution, no upscaling) | Graphics card | Processor | RAM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | 1080p, 30 FPS average, Low | NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT | Intel i5-4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 | 8 GB |
| Recommended | 1080p, 60 FPS average, Medium | NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super or AMD RX 5700 | Intel i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | 16 GB |
| High | 1440p, 60 FPS average, High | NVIDIA RTX 3070 or AMD RX 6800 | Intel i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | 16 GB |
| Performance | 4K, 60 FPS average, High | NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti or AMD RX 6900 XT | Intel i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X | 16 GB |
| Ultra | 4K, 60 FPS average, Ultra | NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti or AMD RX 7900 XT | Intel i5-11600K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | 16 GB |
Check the current store listing and your full PC specifications before buying; the tier table is dated 2024 and does not show how a specific system performs after later driver or game updates. A target-resolution display and the rest of a balanced system also matter. For 1440p or 4K targets, the listed graphics cards are substantially more capable than the minimum tier.
How PS5 compares in play
PlayStation’s hands-on PS5 article describes 4K visuals and fluid frame rates while the author played in Performance mode. It highlights DualSense haptics during traversal and combat, along with adaptive-trigger sensations. That supports a qualitative case for the console experience, but it is not a complete, numeric resolution-and-frame-rate specification for each PS5 mode. PlayStation’s PS5 hands-on report
Rank #2
Accordingly, there is no reliable mode-to-mode performance ranking to give here. A PC may offer a higher frame rate on suitable hardware, but its actual result depends on the machine and settings; PS5 offers a fixed console configuration without the same range of user-controlled display and rendering options.

PSN sign-in is optional on PC
PlayStation announced on January 29, 2025 that a PlayStation Network account would become optional for these PC titles, including Ragnarök. Signing in is optional; PlayStation says it provides benefits including trophies and friend management, as well as an in-game armor set and resource bundle. This is newer than launch-era pages that said PSN was required. PlayStation’s January 2025 account announcement

Which version should you choose?
Choose PS5 if…
- You already own a PS5 and want to play without assessing PC component performance or tuning graphics settings.
- You value the DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers PlayStation describes.
- You prefer a console configuration over choosing resolution, upscaling, and frame-rate settings.
Choose PC if…
- Your current PC meets the publisher’s target tier for the resolution and settings you want.
- You specifically want unlocked frame rates, DLSS/FSR/XeSS choices, or a compatible ultrawide display.
- You want to play on PC without making PSN sign-in a condition of playing.
If you would need to buy a PC or upgrade major components just for this game, compare the full system and display cost with playing on a PS5 you already own. Likewise, do not buy a new monitor solely because the PC version supports 4K or ultrawide; those are options, not requirements to play.
