This walkthrough is for God of War (2018), not God of War Ragnarök. Helheim is best cleared in two stages: follow the story route on your first visit, then return with Atreus to remove red-sap barriers and collect items you could not reach before. The Winds of Hel puzzle also requires backtracking through the area.
Helheim collectibles at a glance
Santa Monica Studio’s regional inventory lists five artifacts, one Mystic Gateway, six Odin’s Ravens, one Valkyrie, and three Legendary Chests in Helheim. Its official collectible overview is the best reference for the regional totals.

The first story visit and the return visit have different purposes. Follow the main route and collect what is accessible initially; come back with Atreus for red-sap branches and the Hidden Chamber. Rota, the Valkyrie, is optional, so you can leave that fight until later.
First visit: follow the main bridge route
- Start at the Realm Travel Room and Brok’s shop. Pick up the artifact outside the shop area, then follow the bridge route. PowerPyx’s chronological Helheim walkthrough places a Legendary Chest on the main route and an Odin’s Raven on a golden ring above it.
- Continue along the bridge and through the ice tunnel. Near the gate, identify the green Winds of Hel energy and nearby holders. Do not mistake it for the green energy farther into the realm near the story’s boss-end area; the chest puzzle uses the energy by the gate.
- Keep following the route beyond the tunnel. Some red-sap barriers and Shatter Crystals block pickups until Atreus can use Shock Arrows. Along this stretch, the guide points to a Legendary Chest behind sap, an artifact caught in vines that you burn with the Blades of Chaos, and two ravens near the lower area and an ice ledge.
- Return toward the bridge end for the Hidden Chamber entrance. Its red-sap entrance is distinct from Odin’s Chambers that require breaking a seal. If it is still blocked, leave it for the return visit.
Solve the Winds of Hel puzzle for the Legendary Chest
This is a backtracking puzzle, not a forward-only sequence. After completing the area, retrieve the green energy near the far bridge gate and carry it through holders toward the starting side. The reward is a Legendary Chest containing a runic attack, according to PowerPyx.

- Use the holders as a route back toward the entrance: the side door on the left, a holder beside the bridge, and holders around the statue area.
- Continue through the holder on the back of the golden ring structure and the one partly obscured by an ice wall.
- Circle around to the start-side of the obstruction and retrieve the energy from its opposite side.
- Carry it to the final holder by the stairs, then place it in the door to open the chest room.
Return with Atreus: clear the red-sap branches
Once Atreus is back and can fire Shock Arrows, revisit Helheim through the Realm Travel Room. Prima’s Helheim collectible guide describes three Shock Crystal and red-sap branches along the bridge. They lead to pickups unavailable during the initial route.
- First branch: Clear the barrier to reach a chest and a coffin.
- Second branch: Turn left, lower the chain, and descend to reveal a Legendary Chest beneath the main bridge.
- Third branch: Clear the entrance to reach the Hidden Chamber of Odin.
Inside the Hidden Chamber, collect the remaining Brooch artifacts and use its Mystic Gateway. The last raven is in the chamber near the Valkyrie arena; Gamer Guides places it above the entrance leading to that arena in its Helheim walkthrough.

Decide when to fight Valkyrie Rota
Rota’s arena is inside the Hidden Chamber. The Valkyrie encounter is optional, so you can use the chamber’s Gateway and collect accessible items without fighting her immediately. Return when you are ready for the challenge.

Use the studio’s inventory as the confirmed regional checklist: five artifacts, one Mystic Gateway, six ravens, one Valkyrie, and three Legendary Chests. The official list does not include a Nornir Chest. A reader comment on the PowerPyx walkthrough mentions one on a later ship sequence, but the cited walkthrough details do not verify its location or puzzle, so it should not be treated as a confirmed Helheim item.

For raven-related completion, Santa Monica Studio says 43 of the game’s 45 ravens are enough for the Allfather Blinded and Father and Son achievements, while all 45 are required for 100% in-game completion. Those are game-wide thresholds, not Helheim-specific totals.
