Gladstone Capital announced that Michael McQuigg would become president effective October 1, 2026, succeeding Robert Marcotte, who became CEO on March 20, 2026. The announcement establishes the board-approved appointment and its effective date; the available post-October 1 materials do not independently confirm the resulting officer roster.

Who is Gladstone Capital’s president, and who is its CEO?

In a March 23, 2026 announcement and same-day Form 8-K, Gladstone Capital said McQuigg would succeed Marcotte as president effective October 1, 2026. Marcotte’s appointment as CEO had already taken effect on March 20, 2026. The roles are distinct: the announced transition was McQuigg to president, with Marcotte as CEO—not McQuigg to CEO. Gladstone Capital’s announcement and its Form 8-K describe the changes.

Role or change Person Effective date
CEO appointment Robert Marcotte March 20, 2026
President succession Michael McQuigg succeeds Marcotte October 1, 2026
Chairman David Gladstone remained Chairman after stepping down as CEO CEO departure effective March 20, 2026

What is confirmed about the October 1 transition?

The issuer’s announcement says the board approved McQuigg’s promotion following a transition period, with October 1, 2026 as the effective date. The company’s June 30 quarterly filing was published before that date: it records Marcotte as CEO and says McQuigg was expected to assume the president role on October 1. It therefore corroborates the planned change, not its completion after October 1. The June 30 Form 10-Q is the relevant dated filing.

The issuer’s filings index lists an October 1 current report, but the available index result does not disclose its subject or text. The company’s indexed team page also continued to show Marcotte as both CEO and president; that page does not establish the post-transition roster. Accordingly, the announcement confirms the approved appointment and scheduled effective date, while separate confirmation from an October 1 filing’s text is not established here.

Who is Michael McQuigg?

Before the planned promotion, McQuigg had served as Gladstone Capital’s executive vice president and senior managing director since 2021. He joined the Gladstone Companies in April 2015. The company’s filing says his work focused on originating and managing debt and equity investments for private-equity sponsors and owner-operators in the middle market.

The filing also lists prior roles at Deerpath Capital and H.I.G. Capital, and degrees from Columbia Business School and Johns Hopkins University. These credentials provide background on his investment experience; they do not by themselves establish how the leadership change will affect the company’s results.

What else changed in Gladstone Capital’s leadership?

The March 2026 announcement said John Sateri was appointed chief investment officer effective March 20, and Andrew Ahlberg was appointed executive vice president effective immediately. David Gladstone stepped down as CEO effective March 20 and remained chairman. These were related leadership moves, separate from McQuigg’s scheduled succession to president.

What does Gladstone Capital do?

Gladstone Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: GLAD) describes itself as a publicly traded business development company investing in debt and equity securities, primarily secured first- and second-lien term loans to lower-middle-market businesses in the United States. In its March 23, 2026 announcement, the company reported 715 loans and investments across 294 companies, representing approximately $3.3 billion of invested capital through December 31, 2025, before principal repayments and realizations. Those are historical company-reported figures, not evidence of the impact or success of the leadership succession.

How the company described the succession

In the March 23 announcement, Marcotte said, “I am also pleased to see Michael McQuigg step into the role of President.” He also described the move as part of building on the company’s track record. Those remarks are the company’s own characterization of its succession plan, not an independent assessment of the transition’s outcome.
