To give a virtual assistant access without sharing your password, sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer and go to Settings > Permissions > Invite. Enter their email, choose the narrowest role that covers their work, select Done, then Save. They accept the invitation and work under their own Google Account, without access to your Google Account.
Choose the Right YouTube Role
Choose a role based on what your assistant actually needs to do. YouTube’s available roles and capabilities can change, so confirm the permissions shown in Studio before sending an invitation.

For an assistant who only needs to upload or edit content, an Editor role may be enough. Choose Manager only if they need to manage permissions or require its broader capabilities. Give Owner access only when there is a genuine need for full control.
Invite Your Assistant in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio with the account that controls the channel.
- Open Settings, then Permissions.
- Select Invite and enter the email address associated with your assistant’s Google Account.
- Choose the role that matches their responsibilities.
- Select Done, then Save to send the invitation.
- Ask your assistant to accept the invitation using the Google Account you invited. Once accepted, they can access the channel through their own account.
Invitations expire after 30 days. YouTube channel permissions are designed to let you delegate channel access without giving someone access to your Google Account. Use permissions rather than sharing your password.

If Your Channel Is Linked to a Brand Account
YouTube directs owners of Brand Account channels to use channel permissions. The primary owner can open YouTube Studio > Settings > Permissions and move to channel permissions. Existing Brand Account users are copied over, but their permission levels must be set and invitations sent. Invitees then manage the channel using their own Google Accounts.
Know the Limits of Delegated Access
Channel permissions do not provide access to every YouTube service or feature. Delegates cannot use YouTube APIs, YouTube Music, or YouTube Kids through these permissions, and some actions available to an owner may not be available to delegates.

If someone only needs to work on subtitles, YouTube offers a Subtitle Editor role in YouTube Studio, but it is not available for Brand Accounts. YouTube Studio Content Manager invitations are for partners using Content Manager, not the standard creator-channel invitation process.
Remove Access When the Work Ends
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Settings > Permissions.
- Find the person’s entry and open the menu beside their role.
- Choose Remove access.
Remove access when the assistant leaves your team or when you no longer trust or recognize someone with channel access. You do not need to share or change your Google Account password to manage channel permissions.
