Gittyup is a free, open-source graphical Git client that helps you browse repository history and manage changes without relying solely on command-line output. It continues the GitAhead project and documents tools for reviewing diffs, staging individual lines, examining blame, amending commits, and resolving rebase conflicts. Its project lists packages for Linux, Windows, and macOS. Gittyup README; Gittyup documentation
What Gittyup does
Gittyup presents Git repositories through a graphical interface focused on two related tasks: understanding how a project changed over time and managing the changes you are preparing to commit. It is a continuation of GitAhead, and the Git project’s GUI directory lists it as free and MIT-licensed. Git GUI clients listed by the Git project
The documented feature set is aimed at working with repository history and local changes. It does not establish that Gittyup replaces every Git workflow or command; users can choose a visual interface for supported tasks and continue to use Git’s command line when they prefer or need it.

Single-branch history view
Gittyup documents a single-branch history view for browsing commits. The project also describes fullscreen history and change dialogs, tabs for switching between repositories, commit starring, tag selection, and commit-message templates. These features can help organize the view and move between repositories, but the documentation does not claim that starring or templates alter Git’s underlying history model.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Diff, tree, and blame views
Diff review lets you inspect changes associated with commits or working files. Tree and blame views offer other ways to examine a repository: the tree view presents project contents, while blame associates lines with their commit history. Dynamic line wrapping is also listed among the interface features. Gittyup feature documentation

Stage or unstage individual lines
Gittyup documents single-line staging and unstaging, in addition to reviewing diffs. This gives you a way to select only particular lines for a commit rather than treating an entire changed file as one indivisible choice. Review the resulting staged changes before committing so the commit contains the changes you intend.

Amend commits and handle rebase conflicts
The documented workflows also include commit amendment and resolving rebase conflicts. Amending changes an existing commit rather than simply adding a new one; rebasing can require resolving conflicts when changes cannot be applied cleanly. Gittyup provides graphical support for these tasks, while the project documentation does not imply that every conflict or repository state can be resolved automatically.
Platforms, licensing, and project status
The project README lists stable packages for Linux, Windows, and macOS. It identifies Flatpak and Windows binaries, and describes a Homebrew cask for macOS. Package availability can change, so check the current README or release information for the route and build available for your system before installing. Gittyup README and distribution information

Gittyup and GitAhead are MIT-licensed, and the Git project’s GUI directory identifies Gittyup as free and MIT-licensed. The changelog includes a Gittyup v2.0.0 entry dated 2025-11-30, describing adoption of Qt 6, an updated libgit2 library, SHA-256 repository backend support, and mmap-based indexer reading. It also includes a development entry dated 2026-01-07. Because the changelog is maintained on a rolling branch, those entries alone do not establish the current latest stable release.
