Con GitKraken Desktop puedes crear un worktree para la rama del hotfix y trabajar en un directorio aparte, sin guardar primero tus cambios en curso con stash. El directorio original conserva su estado; ambos worktrees siguen compartiendo el historial del repositorio.
Qué aporta un worktree al atender un hotfix
Un worktree es un directorio de trabajo vinculado al mismo repositorio. Tiene su propio directorio e índice, de modo que puedes tener una rama del hotfix abierta allí y dejar intacto el trabajo en curso del directorio original. No es una copia con un historial independiente: los directorios comparten el historial, y los cambios confirmados en uno pasan a formar parte del historial visible desde los demás.
El flujo tradicional para interrumpir una tarea consiste en guardar los cambios, cambiar de rama y restaurarlos después. Con un worktree, puedes mantener las ramas checked out en directorios separados y no necesitas hacer ese ciclo de guardar y restaurar solo para cambiar de contexto. Esto no prueba automáticamente el hotfix ni evita posibles conflictos de integración.

Crea un worktree para la rama del hotfix
- Abre el repositorio en GitKraken Desktop y ve a Repository View.
- Haz clic derecho en la rama que usarás para el hotfix.
- Elige Create worktree. GitKraken crea un directorio de trabajo vinculado a esa rama, separado del directorio original.
Para el contexto de este flujo, la guía de GitKraken describe crear un worktree desde la rama del hotfix cuando hay cambios sin terminar en la tarea actual. Consulta la guía de GitKraken para atender un hotfix con worktrees.
Abre el directorio separado y trabaja en el hotfix
- En el Left Panel, haz clic derecho en el worktree recién creado.
- Selecciona Open this worktree para abrirlo, o Open worktree in a new tab si prefieres mantenerlo en una pestaña separada.
- Realiza el trabajo del hotfix desde ese directorio y confirma los cambios que correspondan.
Si el nodo WIP del worktree aparece en Commit Graph, también puedes abrirlo desde allí, según la documentación de GitKraken. Cuando regreses al directorio original, encontrarás allí tus cambios sin confirmar; las confirmaciones hechas en el worktree del hotfix, en cambio, pertenecen al historial compartido.

Regresa al trabajo original y retira el worktree
Cuando termines con el hotfix, vuelve al worktree original para retomar la tarea interrumpida. GitKraken también permite bloquear un worktree para evitar cambios accidentales mientras trabajas en otro.

Al limpiar, distingue las dos opciones disponibles: Remove this worktree quita la asociación con ese directorio de trabajo; una opción aparte quita el worktree y borra también la rama asociada. Retirar el worktree no elimina el historial compartido del repositorio. Elige la opción que corresponda a si aún necesitas conservar la rama.

Worktree o stash para cambiar de contexto

La diferencia útil es de organización del trabajo: el worktree deja el contexto original en su sitio mientras atiendes otra rama. No implica que el hotfix esté validado ni que desaparezcan los conflictos que puedan surgir al integrar cambios.
