Bolaji Ojo’s April 14, 2014 EE Times profile presents Robert Miller as a hands-on leader whose priorities at Future Electronics were customer and supplier service, inventory support, and growth from within. The interview took place at the company’s Pointe-Claire, Quebec headquarters during the winter of 2013; its descriptions of the business and workplace are a snapshot of that period, not a guide to the company today.
Who was Robert Miller at Future Electronics?
Miller founded Future Electronics and was its CEO when Ojo interviewed him. The profile described the privately held company as a global distributor of electronic components. It reported about US$5 billion in annual sales and approximately 5,500 employees, but did not specify a precise fiscal-year basis. Those are figures reported in 2014, not verified current statistics.
The interview was not a contemporaneous account of current company leadership: Ojo says the meeting followed an interview request first made in 1999 and took place during the 2013 winter season. The article is best read as a period portrait of Miller and the company’s approach at that time.
What did the profile say about his leadership style?
Ojo portrays Miller as personally involved in the company and its employees, with service to customers and suppliers at the center of Future Electronics’ business identity. The profile also presents inventory support as an important part of the company’s value to customers. These are the article’s descriptions of its strategy, not a current independent assessment of the distributor.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Ojo contrasted Future Electronics’ organic expansion with competitors’ growth through acquisitions. That distinction describes the business landscape as the 2014 profile framed it; it should not be read as a present-day ranking or comparison.
What did Miller say about Asia?
In the interview, Miller said, “Asia is a high-priority region for us.” The profile named China, Korea, India, Japan, and Vietnam as investment priorities then. The quote and country list reflect the company’s stated focus in 2013–14, not a current strategy announcement.

- EE Times reported in 2022 that Miller resigned amid allegations. A Supreme Court of Canada docket says he was Future Electronics’ president and CEO until February 3, 2023, and that he stepped down after a television program aired in which women alleged he had paid them for sexual relations while they were minors. Allegations are not findings of guilt.
- In January 2025, Canadian Press reported that Quebec Superior Court authorized a class action against Miller, Future Electronics, and former executives. Authorization allows a case to proceed; it is not a decision on the merits.
- On June 10, 2025, Canadian Press reported that a Quebec Superior Court judge stayed criminal charges after reviewing medical evidence and hearing from both parties. A stay is a procedural outcome, not a finding that the allegations were proven or disproven. The cited reports do not establish whether there were later proceedings or appeals.
The Supreme Court docket also records a 2024 appeal proceeding in a civil matter and says the sale of Future Electronics was expected to close in the first half of 2024. That entry does not establish the company’s current ownership or operating figures.
