Those requirements and the versions shown by project listings are old, however, so verify that the specific release works with your hosting environment before using it on a public site.

ImpressPages is a CMS for building and managing websites; it is not the similarly named impress.js presentation framework. The project describes features including inline editing, drag-and-drop page management, widgets, and multilingual functionality. Its product materials also describe developer options for MVC-based development and plugin or theme customization. These are capabilities presented by the project, not a guarantee that every feature is available or supported in every release.

These are the project’s published requirements, not confirmation of compatibility with current PHP or MySQL releases. The documentation does not establish current maintenance or security support, either. Before installing on a public site, check that the exact code release is compatible with the PHP version and database offered by your host, and assess whether it is suitable for an internet-facing deployment.
Which ImpressPages version should you download?
The official download page displays ImpressPages 4.6.0 and links to older versions, GitHub, and installation instructions. Separately, Packagist lists version 5.0.3, published on July 9, 2017, and says the package is not auto-updated. The Packagist entry is a separate distribution reference; it does not establish that it is the current official release or that it supports a modern server.

This walkthrough follows the project’s documented file-deployment and browser-installer process. Before choosing a download, confirm its source and version, and verify its runtime compatibility. Do not assume that an older requirements page proves that a release will run securely or reliably on present-day hosting.
How do you install ImpressPages?
- Check the server and release together. Compare your host’s Apache, PHP, extensions, MySQL, disk space, and ini_set settings with the published requirements, then confirm compatibility for the specific code package you intend to install.
- Download the files. Use the project’s download page and verify which version and source you are obtaining.
- Upload or extract the files. Place them in the server directory where the website should live. Ensure the transfer includes the hidden
.htaccessfile; some file managers hide dotfiles by default. - Open the site URL in a browser. The documented process should launch the installation wizard. Follow its prompts to complete setup.
- Provide the database details. Continue with the database setup described below, then finish the wizard.
The project’s installation instructions describe this flow. If the site URL does not bring up the wizard, check that the files are in the intended web directory and that hidden files were copied before changing server settings.

How do you set up the ImpressPages database?
The installer may create a database if the database account has permission to do so. If your hosting provider does not grant that permission, create the database first in the provider’s control panel, then enter its connection details in the installer. For non-Latin characters, the installation documentation specifies the utf8_general_ci collation.
If installation appears to hang while creating the database and the database host is set to 127.0.0.1, the project suggests trying localhost. It also notes that the reverse may be needed with EasyPHP. This is a documented troubleshooting possibility, not a universal fix; use the host value appropriate to your environment.

The project’s feature materials describe ImpressPages as free and open source and refer to GNU GPL v3 and MIT license obligations. Check the license included with the specific code or package you plan to use to determine which terms apply. The homepage also advertises subscription-based support, but its current availability and price are not established here.
