Warp does not render images, PDFs, or videos by itself. Warp provides the agent environment and MCP connection; a connected service such as Orshot performs template rendering. You configure that MCP server in Warp, then ask the agent to create an output from an available template. This distinction matters when you troubleshoot authentication, formats, credits, or missing files.

How the workflow is divided

Warp describes MCP as a way for Agent Mode to access external data and services. Its official launch post says: “By connecting to an MCP server, Warp will be able to access external data and services and use these in Agent Mode conversations.” MCP is therefore the connection standard, not a built-in media renderer.

For this workflow, Warp runs the agent conversation and sends tool calls through MCP. Orshot’s Warp integration page presents a hosted MCP service for rendering images, PDFs, and videos from templates. The provider page shows the endpoint https://mcp.orshot.com/mcp and describes a Streamable HTTP connection. Because provider details can change, verify the endpoint, authentication method, supported template formats, output types, credit rules, and regional availability in Orshot’s current documentation before deploying.

What you need before connecting a renderer

  • A current Warp account and the Warp app, standalone CLI, or cloud-agent access. Warp’s getting-started documentation says these agents share account context, rules, skills, model access, Warp Drive, and MCP servers.
  • An Orshot account and a template that the service supports. The accessible provider page advertises 30 free credits, but does not state eligibility, expiry, or detailed limits.
  • Credentials required by the provider, stored according to your organization’s secret-management policy.
  • A decision about where the agent will run. Local and cloud agents may not receive the same environment variables automatically.

Add an MCP server in Warp

Warp’s CLI reference documents four ways to provide an MCP server: a server UUID, a Warp-managed integration ID, inline JSON, or a JSON configuration-file path. The --mcp flag can be repeated, so configurations can be combined.

Use a provider endpoint

Use the current Warp Agent CLI syntax documented at Warp’s MCP server reference. A generic inline configuration has this shape; adapt the field names to the exact syntax and authentication requirements shown in the current Warp and Orshot documentation:

warp agent run --mcp '{"name":"orshot","transport":"streamable_http","url":"https://mcp.orshot.com/mcp"}'

The endpoint and transport above come from Orshot’s provider listing; the command is an example of how to pass an MCP definition, not a guarantee that the provider currently requires no additional headers or token fields.

Use a JSON configuration file

A file is easier to review, version, and reuse than a long shell argument. Keep secrets out of source control and use the exact schema accepted by your installed Warp CLI:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "orshot": {
      "transport": "streamable_http",
      "url": "https://mcp.orshot.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Then pass the file with the CLI’s documented configuration-file form. If you use both a file and inline definitions, remember that Warp allows multiple --mcp values and combines the resulting servers.

Managed integrations versus custom servers

Warp’s managed integration IDs are intended for supported services such as Linear, Slack, and Jira. Those examples are not Orshot credentials. A custom hosted endpoint is the appropriate route when a provider gives you its own MCP URL. Managed integrations may have contextual limits; Warp notes, for example, that some integrations resolve only in a factory with the integration connected.

Run a template-based render

After the server appears in Warp’s MCP list, ask the agent to use the provider’s rendering tool. Prompts should identify the template, data, output type, and destination clearly.

PDF example

Use the Orshot rendering tool to create a PDF from the weekly-report template.
Set the report title to "Week 42", use the supplied metrics JSON, and return the generated file path.

Image example

Use the connected template-rendering service to generate a product graphic for Shopify.
Use the product template, substitute the supplied name, price, and image URL, and return a PNG.

Video example

Render the campaign template as a video using the supplied scene data.
Use the provider's supported duration and format, then return the download location.

These are illustrative prompts based on the provider’s advertised weekly-report PDF and Shopify product-media examples. They are not independent tests of a particular template, format, authentication flow, or output codec. If a prompt fails, ask the agent to list the server’s available tools and required arguments before attempting the render again.

Viewing output in Warp is a separate feature

Warp’s terminal can display images and videos using Kitty image-protocol support described in its May 2025 product post, Launch Log 2. That viewing capability does not create media. Generation still occurs through the connected MCP service. A successful render may produce a URL or file that you then open in Warp, download, or pass to another tool.

Local, cloud, and credential behavior

Warp’s documentation states that local and remote environment variables used by a server configuration do not sync automatically to remote machines. If a cloud agent cannot authenticate while the same setup works locally, provide the required secret through the supported remote-agent mechanism rather than assuming your local shell environment was copied.

Use separate credentials for development and production where the provider supports them. Avoid placing access tokens directly in prompts, committed JSON files, shell history, or logs. Confirm which account owns the template and which account is charged for credits before allowing unattended jobs.

Current CLI naming and the Oz transition

Warp’s CLI reference says the Oz binary is being deprecated in favor of the Warp Agent CLI. It also says Oz commands remain supported through the end of September 2026. Because that date is now imminent, use the current warp documentation as the forward-looking source and verify command names in your installed version before copying older oz agent run examples into automation.

Verification checklist before production use

  • Endpoint: Confirm that https://mcp.orshot.com/mcp is still current.
  • Transport: Confirm Streamable HTTP support and the exact configuration key expected by your Warp release.
  • Authentication: Determine whether the service requires an API key, OAuth flow, custom header, or account linking.
  • Templates: Verify supported template formats, variable types, fonts, external assets, and nesting rules.
  • Outputs: Confirm available image formats, PDF options, video codecs, dimensions, frame rates, and maximum durations.
  • Usage: Treat the advertised 30 free credits as a vendor offer whose eligibility and validity must be rechecked.
  • Execution: Test both local and cloud agents if your workflow uses both.
  • Data: Check how long uploaded assets and rendered files remain available and whether sensitive data is retained.

Troubleshooting common failures

Warp cannot discover the server

Check the URL, transport spelling, and JSON syntax. Ensure your Warp version supports the documented MCP configuration method. If the provider changed its endpoint, update the configuration from its current documentation rather than retrying the old address.

Authentication or authorization error

Verify that the credential belongs to the account containing the template and that it is supplied in the location the provider requires. For cloud execution, configure the secret remotely; local environment variables are not synchronized automatically.

The tool appears, but the render fails

Ask the agent to inspect the tool schema and required arguments. Common causes include an unknown template identifier, missing variables, unsupported asset URLs, or an output format the template cannot produce. Start with a minimal template and one variable, then add assets and styling incrementally.

A file is generated but cannot be viewed

Confirm the returned URL or path, download the file, and inspect its extension and MIME type. Warp’s Kitty support affects terminal viewing only; it does not convert an invalid or unsupported output.

Credits are unexpectedly exhausted

Check whether previews, retries, failed renders, or each output variant consume credits under the provider’s current policy. The accessible listing does not establish detailed limits, so obtain the exact accounting rules from Orshot before budgeting batch jobs.

Scaling and reliability practices

  • Pin template versions or identifiers so a designer’s edit does not silently change automated output.
  • Validate input data before invoking the render tool and reject missing required fields early.
  • Record request IDs, template IDs, output type, and final file location without logging secrets.
  • Use bounded retries with backoff for transient network failures; do not blindly repeat a job when billing behavior for retries is unknown.
  • Store generated files in durable storage if provider download URLs are temporary.
  • Run a small representative test for every output type before enabling batch generation.

Or skip the browser setup

If your task is simply to capture a webpage rather than render a branded template, ScreenshotNeo is a direct screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, while its cleanup steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server exposes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Use the API from the command line (see the ScreenshotNeo documentation):

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
