Gemini Advanced AI is no longer Google’s current paid-subscription name: Google now presents the paid Gemini experience as Google AI Pro. In the United States, Google AI Pro currently costs $19.99 per month, while eligible accounts may see a no-cost trial. Anyone without a trial can still use Gemini’s free experience.
The name change explains why current Google pages may not match older guides. Google previously marketed related benefits as Google One AI Premium, but the current plan, storage allowance, model access, and promotions should be checked on Google’s live pages before you subscribe.
Key takeaways
- Gemini Advanced is no longer Google’s current paid-subscription name; the paid Gemini experience is now presented as Google AI Pro.
- Google’s U.S. pricing page currently lists Google AI Pro at $19.99 per month and includes 5 TB of Google One storage.
- A no-cost Google AI Pro trial may appear for eligible accounts, but the trial length, renewal price, and availability must be confirmed at signup.
- Gemini’s free experience is the legitimate fallback when Google AI Pro does not show a trial or when you do not want to enter payment details.
- The former 12-month student promotion had an October 6, 2025 signup deadline and should not be treated as a current offer.
What is Gemini Advanced AI called now?
Gemini Advanced is no longer the current official subscription name. Google is moving the paid Gemini experience under Google AI Pro, so readers searching for Gemini Advanced may now see Google AI Pro pricing, plan benefits, and model descriptions instead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe change matters because older articles may refer to Google One AI Premium, 2 TB of storage, or an earlier set of Gemini models. Those descriptions belong to previous plan versions. Google changes model access, storage allowances, and bundled benefits, so the current Google AI Pro plan page should control present-tense decisions.

How much does Google AI Pro cost?
According to Google One’s U.S. pricing page (checked against the research available on August 13, 2026), Google AI Pro costs $19.99 per month before applicable taxes or any account-specific promotion. The price is a U.S. price, not a worldwide guarantee, and Google may display different pricing or benefits in other countries.
The current U.S. plan presentation lists 5 TB of storage for Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail. The bundle also includes expanded Gemini usage, access to Google’s Pro model and Deep Research, Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and Vids, expanded access to Gemini Notebook, YouTube Premium Lite, and Google Home Premium Standard. Included services and entitlements can change, so review the live plan page before subscribing.
The 5 TB allowance should not be confused with the older 2 TB Google One AI Premium presentation. The older plan also advertised a one-month trial, but older storage and model descriptions should not be used as the current Google AI Pro specification.
| Plan or route | Cost | What you get | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google AI Pro | $19.99/month in the U.S. | 5 TB storage, expanded Gemini usage, Google’s Pro model, Deep Research, Gemini integrations, and other bundled benefits | Price and benefits vary by country and can change |
| Google AI Pro trial | $0 during the displayed trial period, if offered | Access to the paid plan’s benefits during the qualifying offer | Availability, trial length, renewal price, and terms are account-specific or promotion-specific |
| Free Gemini experience | $0 | A way to use Gemini without subscribing to Google AI Pro | Lower usage limits and less paid-plan access |
| Former student promotion | $0 for 12 months under the 2025 offer | Expanded Gemini access and other benefits for eligible students | The announced October 6, 2025 signup deadline has passed |
How can you try Gemini Advanced—or Google AI Pro—for free?
There are two legitimate ways to try Google’s AI at no cost: check whether Google AI Pro offers your account a trial, or use the free Gemini experience. A free Gemini account does not automatically mean that every Google AI Pro feature is free.
Option 1: Check for the official Google AI Pro trial
Google plan material advertises a one-month Google AI Pro trial at no charge, but Google does not guarantee that every account receives the same offer. Trial eligibility may depend on the account, country, campaign, and other conditions. The signup screen—not an old article—should determine what your account is actually offered.

- Sign in to the personal Google Account that you intend to use with Gemini.
- Open the official Google AI Pro plan page or Google One signup flow.
- Confirm that the current plan is labeled Google AI Pro rather than relying on an old Gemini Advanced or Google One AI Premium page.
- Before accepting, check the displayed trial length, renewal date, renewal price, included benefits, and any eligibility conditions.
- Save the renewal information and decide whether the paid plan is worthwhile before the trial ends.
Do not assume that a “free trial” means that every paid feature, storage benefit, or bundled service is available in every region. Google may limit individual benefits by country, age, language, device, account type, or system requirements.
Option 2: Use Gemini for free without Google AI Pro
The free Gemini experience is the safest fallback if no Google AI Pro trial appears or if you do not want to provide payment details. The free route lets you try Google’s AI assistant, but Google AI Pro is designed to provide higher usage limits and additional paid-plan access.

Google’s current plan presentation describes Google AI Pro as offering Gemini usage limits four times higher than the non-AI-plan baseline, along with access to a Pro model and Deep Research. The exact models and limits may change, so treat those benefits as current plan descriptions rather than permanent guarantees. See Google’s AI plans documentation for the account and feature qualifications.
Option 3: Student offers
Google announced on August 6, 2025, that students aged 18 and older in the United States, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil could sign up for 12 months of Google AI Pro at no cost, with a stated deadline of October 6, 2025. The announcement included expanded Gemini access, Deep Research, NotebookLM benefits, Veo 3, Jules, and 2 TB of storage. The deadline passed before the current research date, so this promotion is historical rather than a current free-trial route.
If a student offer appears in your Google Account or through an educational institution, verify that the offer is live and read the current Google terms before accepting it. Do not rely on the expired 2025 deadline or assume that a new student promotion has the same benefits.

Read Google’s original student-offer announcement for the historical eligibility and deadline details.
Option 4: Device bundles and other promotions
This research does not verify a generally available official device bundle that provides Google AI Pro for free as of August 13, 2026. Old Pixel, launch-period, or retailer promotions should not be treated as current unless an official Google page confirms the offer, eligible products, countries, dates, trial or subscription terms, and automatic renewal conditions.
Who can sign up for Google AI Pro?
Google says Google AI Pro is available in more than 150 countries, but the specific benefits can vary by country. Personal Google Accounts can sign up for Google AI plans, while Google Workspace customers generally need an eligible Workspace or Gemini add-on offering instead of using the consumer plan.
Some AI features are limited to adults aged 18 or older. Language, age, country, system, account type, and other restrictions may apply. A reader who uses a work or school account should check the account administrator’s options rather than assuming that a personal Google AI Pro trial is available.
The official Google AI plans page is the appropriate place to check current availability and eligibility for your account and region.

What happens when the Google AI Pro trial ends?
A Google AI Pro trial can convert to a paid subscription if the displayed offer says that renewal will occur and you do not cancel. The available official material does not establish one universal cancellation deadline or guarantee whether every trial preserves access until the end of the trial after cancellation.
At signup, record the renewal date and price shown for your account. If you decide not to continue, open Google One’s subscription-management area before that date, follow the cancellation instructions, and confirm that Google One shows the cancellation or renewal status you intended. Do not rely only on deleting the Gemini app or ignoring the reminder.
Because trial terms differ, the checkout and subscription-management screens should take priority over generic advice about when cancellation must occur.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Google AI Pro worth paying for if you only want Gemini?
Google AI Pro is most defensible for someone who needs higher Gemini usage limits, Google’s Pro model, Deep Research, the larger storage allowance, or Gemini features integrated into Google productivity services. A reader who only wants occasional chatbot questions may find the free Gemini experience sufficient.

Common mistakes when searching for Gemini Advanced
- Using the old name: Search results may say Gemini Advanced, but Google now presents the paid tier as Google AI Pro.
- Using the old storage figure: The current U.S. Google AI Pro page lists 5 TB; the former 2 TB figure describes an older plan presentation.
- Assuming every account gets a free month: Check the live offer attached to the Google Account that will subscribe.
- Confusing free Gemini with a free Pro subscription: The free Gemini experience is available without Google AI Pro, but it does not promise the paid plan’s limits and features.
- Trusting expired student or device promotions: Confirm the current deadline, country, eligibility rules, and renewal terms on an official Google page.
- Assuming a Workspace account works like a personal account: Google Workspace customers generally use separate eligible Workspace or Gemini offerings.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Gemini Advanced still available?
Gemini Advanced is no longer the current official subscription name; Google now presents the paid Gemini experience as Google AI Pro. Older references to Gemini Advanced or Google One AI Premium may describe previous plan versions.

Recommended Free Tools
How do I try Gemini Advanced for free?
You can use Gemini’s free experience without Google AI Pro. To try the paid features at no cost, sign in to the intended personal Google Account and check whether the official signup page displays a trial; do not assume every account receives one.
Is the Google AI Pro student offer still available?
The 12-month student promotion announced by Google in 2025 had an October 6, 2025 signup deadline, so it should not be presented as a currently open offer. A new offer must be verified through current Google terms.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Gemini Advanced is now Google AI Pro, and the current U.S. price is $19.99 per month. To try the paid features without paying, check the official Google AI Pro signup page for an account-specific trial. If no trial appears, Gemini’s free experience is the legitimate no-cost alternative. Verify the price, renewal date, eligibility, and included features at checkout because Google’s plans and promotions change.
