If you’re looking for games like Masters of Albion, start with War for the Overworld and Sintopia: Steam currently groups both with Masters of Albion in store bundles. That makes them useful adjacent picks, not proven copies. Masters of Albion combines godlike world manipulation, town building and production, character possession, exploration, and nighttime defense, so the best fit depends on which part of that mix you want.
What makes a game similar to Masters of Albion?
Masters of Albion is a single-player PC strategy and simulation game from 22cans. Steam lists its Early Access release as April 22, 2026. Its advertised gameplay brings several strands together:
- God-game control: manipulate objects and act from an overhead perspective.
- Town management: build and customize a settlement, hire and house workers, organize production, and fulfill orders.
- Direct control: possess heroes, workers, or animals, then explore, fight, complete quests, and craft equipment.
- Defense: prepare buildings, walls, heroes, and god powers for nighttime attacks, or take part in combat directly.
These features come from the Steam store description. A useful comparison therefore asks whether another game emphasizes world manipulation, construction and management, production simulation, combat, sandbox freedom, or authored quests. The available evidence supports naming nearby games, but not scoring them against Masters of Albion on every system.

War for the Overworld
Steam currently lists War for the Overworld in a bundle with Masters of Albion. That storefront connection makes it a reasonable nearby strategy and god-game option to investigate if management-oriented play is what interests you. The bundle alone does not establish that the games share particular mechanics, tone, or structure, and it does not establish availability on other platforms.

What should I play if I like god games?
If your interest is specifically the god-game lineage, Black & White and Dungeon Keeper are relevant reference points: 22cans founder Peter Molyneux named both, along with Fable, as inspirations for Masters of Albion. In a 22cans press release reproduced by The Gaming Ground, he described the game as “the culmination of my life’s work” and said it owed much to those titles. That is the developer’s account of its influences, not an independent comparison or a statement about where those games are currently sold.
Those names can help identify the tradition Masters of Albion invokes, but they should not be treated as confirmed alternatives with matching features. The reviewed sources do not establish current storefront availability or provide a detailed feature comparison for Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, or Fable.

Is Masters of Albion finished?
No. Steam identifies it as an Early Access game and says the version is incomplete and may change. The developer says Chapter One can be played from start to finish, while listing combat feel, balance, alignment, optional quests, interface, progression, and other systems as areas for refinement. 22cans estimated an Early Access period of around 12 months, while noting that the schedule could shift; treat that as a published estimate, not a promised full-release date. See the Steam Early Access disclosure for the current status.
Reception has also depended on the build. In an October 1, 2026 article, PC Gamer’s Rob Jones described the launch version as lightweight, with some systems initially limited or repetitive. He judged that the later New Beginnings update improved system depth enough to make the Early Access game recommendable to god-game fans, while emphasizing that it remained unfinished. That is one reviewer’s assessment, not a consensus claim.
