What the cited specs say about the displays
Galaxy Z Fold8
Samsung’s Colombia first-look lists a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch main display. The larger inner screen is the clearest documented distinction for reading, media, gaming, or other tasks that benefit from a broad canvas. Samsung presents those as intended uses; they are not independent performance findings. The same source lists a 4,800 mAh battery.

These display and battery figures come from Samsung Newsroom Colombia’s July 22, 2026 first-look. Because it is a regional source, specifications and availability should be checked against the relevant country’s official product information.

Portability and form factor
Samsung’s cited figures put the Fold8 at 201 g and the Flip8 at 180 g. Samsung also lists the Flip8 as 6.1 mm thick when open. The 21 g weight difference favors the Flip8, but the cited material does not provide a matching set of overall folded and unfolded dimensions for both phones. It is not enough to establish a complete dimensions comparison.

The design distinction is practical: Samsung positions the Fold8 around unfolding into a larger viewing surface, while the Flip8 is presented as a compact foldable with cover-screen interactions and camera flexibility. Choose based on whether you value the larger internal screen or a lighter fold-in-half design; the cited specifications do not establish which is more comfortable in everyday use.

Which phone fits which use?
- Choose the Fold8 if: the larger 7.6-inch main display is central to how you plan to read, watch media, or play games, and its higher U.S. list price fits your budget.
- Choose the Flip8 if: you prefer the lighter form factor and Samsung’s stated emphasis on quick cover-screen access and flexible camera use.
- Compare storage carefully: the like-for-like 256GB and 512GB U.S. list-price gaps are each $700; the Fold8’s listed 1TB tier has no corresponding Flip8 tier in the cited store information.
Availability and evidence limits
Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement named Amazon.com among the retailers offering preorders and described a staged sales start. That launch-era retailer listing does not confirm current stock, seller, or price. Samsung’s Latin America launch announcement describes its rollout and product positioning, while the Colombia first-look supplies the dimensions, display, and battery figures cited above.
The cited material does not establish a complete matched comparison for processor, camera modules, durability, charging, software-support period, or country variants. Those details are omitted rather than inferred. Samsung also reported that, one month after launch, combined U.S. purchases of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 were tracking 30% ahead of the Z Fold7, and that those Fold models represented roughly 80% of current Galaxy Z series purchases. Samsung separately said 30% of U.S. Flip8 buyers switched from competing brands. These are company-reported observations, not independent market statistics, and they do not show direct Fold8-versus-Flip8 preference.
