Samsung claims up to 26 hours of local video playback under specified lab conditions, and Tom’s Guide measured 12 hours 19 minutes in its 5G web-surfing test. Google describes the Pixel 10 Pro as offering 24+ hours of battery life. Those figures use different methods, so they cannot establish a winner—or prove that either phone will cure someone’s battery anxiety.
Which phones are being compared?
This is a comparison of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Google’s standard Pixel 10 Pro, a 6.3-inch phone. It is not a comparison with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The distinction matters: the Fold8 has a cover display and a larger main display, so its battery use depends in part on which screen is active and for how long.
Battery capacity is close, but it does not predict runtime
| Phone | Typical capacity | Rated or minimum capacity | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 | 4,800 mAh | 4,660 mAh rated | Samsung, 2026 |
| Google Pixel 10 Pro | 4,870 mAh | 4,707 mAh minimum | Google, 2026 |
The figures are close, with the Pixel’s stated typical capacity slightly higher. Capacity alone cannot settle which phone lasts longer: screen use, brightness, cellular reception, settings, workload, and other factors affect battery drain.
What the published battery-life figures actually mean
Galaxy Z Fold8: Samsung’s video-playback estimate
Samsung says the Fold8 supports up to 26 hours of video playback. That figure comes from Samsung’s internal lab testing on a prerelease model: Bluetooth earphones were connected, LTE was used, and a locally saved 720p video played on the main display. Samsung notes that actual time varies with factors including network, settings, video format, brightness, and battery condition. It is a manufacturer estimate for a specific playback scenario, not a general all-day guarantee. Samsung’s specifications and test qualification explain the conditions.

Galaxy Z Fold8: Tom’s Guide’s 5G web test
Tom’s Guide reports 12 hours 19 minutes for the Fold8 in its battery test, which consists of web surfing over 5G. This is a useful independent reference point, but it is one publication’s standardized test result—not a promise of the same runtime for every owner or workload. Tom’s Guide’s review gives the test result and method.
Pixel 10 Pro: Google’s general endurance claim
Google states that the Pixel 10 Pro provides 24+ hours of battery life, or up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. These are Google’s figures, not results from a test directly comparable to Tom’s Guide’s 5G web-surfing test or Samsung’s local-video lab test. Google’s Pixel 10 Pro specifications list the estimates.

Because the available figures use different workloads and methods, they do not show that the Fold8 objectively outlasts the Pixel 10 Pro. No comparable standard Pixel 10 Pro result is established here.
Why Fold8 screen habits matter to a personal battery comparison
A first-person claim that the Fold8 eased battery anxiety needs to be tied to the way the phone was actually used. A reader trying to judge whether the same experience is likely should distinguish cover-screen use from time spent on the main display, and note the conditions that shape drain:

- Versatile Camera System: High-quality photography with multiple lenses and modes.
- One UI Software: User-friendly interface for an intuitive and seamless experience.
- Foldable Tablet Experience: Combines phone and tablet functionality seamlessly.
- Multi-Window App Continuity: Run multiple apps simultaneously for efficient multitasking.
- Built to last, the Fold5 includes IPX8 water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, an Armor Aluminum hinge, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and support for S Pen (sold separately) — combining rugged engineering with productivity.
- Which display was used, and approximately how much time was spent on each.
- Brightness and refresh behavior, where known.
- Cellular conditions and whether use was on LTE or 5G.
- Whether the workload was browsing, video, camera use, gaming, or a mix.
- Idle time and, for video, whether playback was local or streamed.
Without those details—and comparable records from both phones—a statement about one person’s anxiety is an individual impression, not evidence that the Fold8 will resolve the same concern for other users. The available sources also do not establish a population-level measure of battery anxiety or how often either phone resolves it.

Google says the Pixel 10 Pro can reach up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher; Google says the charger is sold separately. Its Pixelsnap wireless charging is specified at up to 15 W. These are Pixel specifications, not a basis for a charging-speed comparison with the Fold8. Google’s specifications provide the stated rates.
