Neither a running armband nor a waist belt is a proven universal winner for jogging with a Galaxy S6. Choose by checking whether your exact phone and case fit, how securely the holder stays in place as you run, how easily you can reach the screen, and whether you need room for small items. No head-to-head test establishes which style is more comfortable or moves less.
What matters most when choosing
For either style, a good fit is more important than the label on the holder. A phone that is difficult to insert, shifts during movement, or can slip out is a poor choice for a run. Comfort also depends on your body, clothing and the holder’s placement, so there is no reliable basis here for claiming that one style is always more stable, comfortable or breathable.
- Fit: Check the usable interior dimensions against your Galaxy S6 with the case you plan to use. Do not rely on a product title alone.

These are conditional choices, not measured performance results. A belt may appeal if you want waist placement or extra storage; an armband may appeal if you want upper-arm placement and screen access. Your own fit and movement determine whether either works.

Samsung lists the standard Galaxy S6 at 143.4 × 70.5 × 6.8 mm and 138 g. The Galaxy S6 edge is a different size: 142.1 × 70.1 × 7.0 mm and 132 g. These are Samsung’s 2015 launch specifications, not dimensions for a phone plus case. Do not assume a snug holder for one model fits the other; verify the listing’s usable dimensions for your exact handset and case. Samsung’s announcement lists both models separately.

- Identify whether your phone is the standard Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, and include the case in your fit check.
- Compare the phone-and-case dimensions with the holder’s usable interior dimensions, not only its advertised compatibility label.
- Put the phone in and check that it is retained, the closure is secure, and the screen or controls you need are accessible.
- Wear the holder with your usual running clothes and check for pressure or rubbing while moving.
- Try it on a short, easy run. Check whether the phone shifts or the holder bounces before relying on it for a longer outing.
