The Galaxy S26 Ultra has a 200 MP main camera and separate 3x and 5x telephoto cameras; the Pixel 11 Pro has a 48 MP 5x telephoto and a 48 MP autofocus ultrawide with Macro Focus. Those are meaningful differences in camera hardware, but they do not establish which phone takes better pictures. The available sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head test of these exact models, so there is no evidence-based overall winner to name.
How do the camera systems compare?
The following specifications come from Google’s US Pixel 11 Pro specification page and Samsung’s official Galaxy S26 Ultra specifications. Resolution and aperture figures describe hardware; they are not direct measures of finished image quality.

Which phone has the better camera?
The specifications alone cannot answer that. Megapixel count does not prove that a camera will produce sharper images or handle dynamic range, color, motion, low light or video better. A fair verdict would require matched photos or video from both phones under the same conditions.

One reviewer’s Galaxy S26 Ultra camera review, based on weeks of use and hundreds of photos, praised the phone’s consistency, balanced color and exposure, and fine detail, particularly from the main camera. The reviewer also reported that portrait depth separation could fail in some scenes and that long-range zoom had limits. These are that reviewer’s observations—not lab measurements or a comparison with the Pixel 11 Pro.
For a useful head-to-head, compare the same wide and ultrawide scenes, moving people or pets, portrait subjects, selfies, night scenes and video. Keep framing and settings as similar as possible, and look at edge detail, exposure, motion blur, skin rendering, focus and how each camera handles movement. No single resolution or maximum-zoom figure substitutes for those results.
Does the Pixel 11 Pro have better zoom than the S26 Ultra?
Not on the basis of the maximum zoom numbers. The Pixel 11 Pro has one listed 5x optical telephoto camera, while the S26 Ultra has separate 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras. Google lists Pro Zoom up to 120x; Samsung lists up to 100x digital zoom. Those maximums describe different zoom systems and do not show how much detail either phone retains at a given magnification.

“Optical quality” is the manufacturers’ label for specified zoom positions, not another physical lens and not a guarantee that the result matches a dedicated optical camera at that magnification. Samsung identifies 2x and 10x as optical-quality positions through its Adaptive Pixel sensor; Google lists several optical-quality positions alongside its physical 5x telephoto. For practical comparison, inspect samples at the framing you actually use rather than ranking the phones by 120x versus 100x.
How many cameras does the Galaxy S26 Ultra have?
Its listed rear camera system has four cameras: a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 10 MP 3x telephoto and a 50 MP 5x telephoto. It also has a 12 MP front camera. The Pixel 11 Pro’s listed rear cameras are a 50 MP main camera, a 48 MP ultrawide and a 48 MP 5x telephoto, plus a 42 MP front camera.
Does the Pixel 11 Pro have a macro camera?
Google lists Macro Focus on the Pixel 11 Pro’s 48 MP autofocus ultrawide. That means the ultrawide camera supports the named macro feature; it is not a separately listed macro lens. Samsung’s cited S26 Ultra specifications do not identify a dedicated macro camera.

Which is better for portraits, selfies and moving subjects?
The specs offer clues, not a result. The Pixel’s front camera is listed with autofocus and a 103° field of view, useful details to consider for group framing and focus. The cited Samsung specification gives the S26 Ultra front camera’s resolution and aperture but not its field of view. Compare actual face rendering, focus, perspective, group framing and portrait separation before choosing.
For moving subjects, compare matched shots of people or pets in motion rather than relying on camera resolution. The S26 Ultra reviewer described improved motion capture for pets or children, but that observation is specific to the reviewer’s experience with Samsung’s phone and does not show how it compares with the Pixel.
Which is better for low-light photos and video?
The cited specifications do not settle this. Aperture and sensor size are hardware details, not substitutes for seeing how a phone handles a dim scene, especially when the subject moves. Compare both phones in the same lighting, with the same subject movement and framing; for video, also assess exposure changes, focus, stabilization and motion rendering in the recorded footage.

Google’s August 12, 2026 Pixel 11 launch announcement says the standard Pixel 11’s new 48 MP main sensor has “56% more light sensitivity.” That claim applies to the standard Pixel 11—not the Pixel 11 Pro—and should not be used as evidence that the Pro is better in low light. Google lists Camera Looks, Pro controls, High-Res up to 50 MP, Pro Zoom up to 120x, Camera Coach, Add Me, Macro Focus, Instant Night Sight, Astrophotography, High-Res Portrait Mode, Face Unblur, Auto Unblur, Long Exposure, Action Pan, Real Tone Panorama, Auto Best Take, Frequent Faces and Top Shot. A feature’s presence does not establish that it is unique to Google or better than a Samsung equivalent. The exact operation and availability of features can depend on the current camera app and market.

Samsung’s official specifications establish the camera hardware and zoom claims listed above. The Samsung announcement also discusses Galaxy AI, but the cited material does not support using its general AI statements as evidence of camera superiority. Compare current camera-app features directly if a particular editing or shooting function matters to you.

When did these phones launch, and what did they cost?
Google’s August 12, 2026 launch article says Pixel 11 Pro preorders opened that day at an announced US starting price of $1,099, with Google Store and retail-partner shelf availability beginning August 20. This is a dated launch price, not a current quote. Samsung announced the Galaxy S26 series globally on February 25, 2026; the cited sources do not establish a current Samsung US price or retailer inventory. Check each manufacturer or retailer for current regional pricing, promotions and availability.
