Yes—Samsung’s Galaxy S26 lineup has seen reported price increases, but the evidence does not show that every country was affected. In the US, prices rose after launch: a report dated October 1, 2026, put starting prices $100 higher for all three main models. A regional check also found increases in Canada, the UK, mainland Europe and India, but it did not cover every market.
What changed in US Galaxy S26 pricing?
The US prices below distinguish Samsung’s February 2026 launch prices from the updated starting prices reported by Tom’s Guide on October 1, 2026. They are reported prices, not a guarantee of what a particular seller charges today.
| Model | US launch price (February 2026) | Updated US starting price reported October 1, 2026 | Reported change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 | $899.99 | $999 | $100 higher than launch |
| Galaxy S26+ | $1,099.99 | $1,199 | $100 higher than launch |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra | $1,299.99 | $1,399 | $100 higher than launch |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 1TB | not stated (Tom’s Guide, October 1, 2026, reported a $200 increase but did not give the launch price in the cited information) | $1,999 | $200 higher |
| Galaxy S26 FE | $699 | $699 | No change reported |
At launch, the S26 and S26+ were already more expensive than their comparable prior-year models. The Associated Press reported those launch increases as $100, or 10% to 13%, while the S26 Ultra launched at the same $1,299 price as its comparable predecessor. That is a separate comparison from the later US increases shown above.

Did every country get a price increase?
No country-by-country evidence here supports the literal claim that the S26 is more expensive everywhere. GSMArena’s regional price check found higher prices in the US, Canada, the UK, mainland Europe and India, while explicitly noting that it had not checked every region. The defensible conclusion is that several major markets saw increases, not that every country did.
How to compare the price you’ll actually pay
Before deciding whether a listing is a hike or a good deal, compare like with like. A headline starting price may refer to a different configuration or seller offer than the one you are considering.

- Country and currency: Check the price for your market rather than converting a US price and treating it as a local offer.
- Model tier: The S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra have different starting prices. Compare the same model across dates or sellers.
- Storage: Confirm the capacity. The 1TB Ultra had a larger reported increase than the $100 increases reported for the standard starting prices.
- Seller: Check whether the listing is from Samsung, a carrier, or another retailer, and review who is actually selling the device.
- Trade-in and carrier credits: Separate the advertised device price from credits that require an eligible trade-in, service plan or other conditions.
- Protection coverage: Compare any protection plan separately and verify local eligibility and terms; coverage can change the total cost.
Should you buy the S26 before it gets more expensive?
The October 1, 2026 report already describes higher US starting prices than at launch, so waiting for a lower price is not the same as avoiding a future increase. The available figures do not establish whether prices will rise again or when. If you are ready to buy, compare the live price and total terms across sellers, including any trade-in or carrier-credit conditions; if not, there is no evidence-based way to predict the next price change from these figures alone.
Is the Galaxy S26 Ultra still worth considering?
That depends on whether its extra features matter enough to justify its price over the S26 or S26+. Samsung identifies a built-in Privacy Display and a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy platform as Ultra features. The Associated Press described the Privacy Display as blocking bystanders from viewing the screen. Samsung also says the S26 series receives seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Those features and support commitments can be relevant if you expect to keep the phone for years or would use the privacy function, but they do not establish that the Ultra is the best value for every buyer. Compare the exact storage configuration and price with the less expensive models before choosing.
