Those are historical launch prices, not today’s price gap. The S24 Ultra is the better fit if you want an integrated S Pen or a dedicated 5x optical telephoto camera; the S25+ is lighter and uses a newer processor generation.

Which phone has the more useful camera hardware?
Galaxy S24 Ultra: adds a dedicated 5x optical telephoto
The S24 Ultra has a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and two telephoto cameras: 50MP at 5x optical and 10MP at 3x optical. That dedicated 5x lens gives it more long-range optical hardware than the S25+.
Galaxy S25+: one 3x optical telephoto
The S25+ has a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide, and 10MP 3x optical telephoto. The S24 Ultra’s higher main-camera megapixel count is a specification difference, not by itself proof of better image quality. No independent head-to-head camera test is available to establish which takes better photos overall.

The S25+ weighs 190g, compared with the S24 Ultra’s 232g Sub6 specification, making it the lighter option on Samsung’s cited specifications. The S24 Ultra uses a titanium frame, while the S25+ uses aluminum. Device weight may vary by market.

Does the S Pen or newer processor matter more?
Choose the S24 Ultra for built-in pen input
The S24 Ultra supports an integrated S Pen; Samsung’s comparison lists no S Pen support for the S25+. If you plan to write, mark up, or otherwise use pen input, that is a functional distinction rather than a minor spec trade-off.
Choose the S25+ for the newer processor generation
The S24 Ultra uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, while the S25+ uses Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. The S25+ has the newer platform, but without a direct comparative test, that generation difference should not be translated into a specific performance advantage for this pair.

Is the S25+ battery smaller, and will it last less time?
Samsung lists typical battery capacities of 5,000mAh for the S24 Ultra and 4,900mAh for the S25+. Both list wired charging at up to 45W, though Samsung describes the S24 Ultra as 45W and the S25+ as up to 45W. A 100mAh capacity difference does not establish which phone lasts longer in everyday use; endurance depends on usage and network conditions, and no independent comparative battery test is available.
Charging adapters are sold separately: Samsung’s S25+ US listing says a charger is not included, and Samsung’s S24 Ultra documentation says its 45W adapter is sold separately. Samsung S25+ US listing Samsung S24 Ultra specifications

How long will Samsung support each phone?
Samsung announced seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the S24 Ultra. The S25+ is also listed for seven OS upgrade generations and seven years of security updates from global launch. Because the S24 Ultra launched earlier, its support period began earlier as well. Actual update timing can vary by market and carrier. Samsung S24 support announcement Samsung Galaxy S25 specifications
Quick Recap
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the S24 Ultra if you will use the S Pen, want the dedicated 5x optical telephoto, or prefer its titanium-frame Ultra design.
- Choose the S25+ if lower weight and Samsung’s newer processor generation matter more to you, and you do not need the S Pen or a dedicated 5x camera.
- Compare current offers before deciding: the $300 gap describes the two US launch MSRPs, not what either phone costs today.
