The Galaxy M56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G share a 120Hz Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, 45W charging and Samsung’s stated six generations of Android OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. Samsung’s 2025 launch prices put the M56 below the A36, but those are historical prices—not a reliable guide to today’s price gap. The practical differences include their processors, camera details and durability ratings.

These are manufacturer-announced facts, not a benchmark or camera-quality test. Samsung’s stated software commitment is the same for both, but the shared promise does not establish identical update timing or delivery in every case.
What is the price difference?
Samsung’s India launch announcements listed these prices in 2025. They should be treated as launch-era reference prices, not current offers.

The M56 launch release was published on 17 April 2025 and the A36 release on 3 March 2025. Samsung’s stated launch offers and prices do not establish what either phone costs now. A Samsung A36 buy-page snapshot showed ₹33,999 for 8GB/128GB and ₹37,999 for 8GB/256GB, alongside stock and promotional language; that dynamic listing is not a matched, current comparison with an M56 price.

For a current decision, compare both phones at the same Indian seller, using the same RAM/storage configuration and the same payment method. Check whether the displayed total depends on a bank offer, exchange, coupon, or stock status. Without that matched check, a current price winner or present-day price gap is not established.
How do their displays and performance compare?
Display
Both phones have 120Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED displays in the 6.7-inch class. Samsung gives the M56 measurement as 6.7 inches and the A36 as 17.01 cm. On the specifications available here, the display basics are closely matched; the figures alone do not establish differences in brightness, color accuracy, or outdoor visibility.

Processor
The M56 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1480, while the A36 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Those names identify different platforms, but they are not enough to conclude which phone is faster in everyday use, gaming, heat management, or battery efficiency. No comparable independent test results are established here.

Samsung describes the M56 as having a 50MP OIS triple rear-camera system and a 12MP front HDR camera. For the A36, Samsung confirms a 50MP main-camera system and 12MP front camera; its launch announcement also highlights 10-bit HDR recording using the front lens. These manufacturer descriptions do not provide a like-for-like image-quality test, and they are not sufficient to rank photo or video results.

Battery, charging and durability
Battery and charging
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery and 45W charging for both models. These matching headline specifications do not show how long a charge lasts in a particular person’s use or how quickly each phone charges under the same conditions.
Protection and water resistance
Samsung highlights Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back of the M56 and gives it a 7.2mm profile. For the A36, Samsung specifies IP67 and Gorilla Glass Victus+. The cited M56 announcement does not establish an IP rating, so do not assume it has the A36’s stated water- and dust-resistance classification.

Which phone should you buy?
- Consider the M56 if its current matched-configuration price is lower for you and you value Samsung’s stated Victus+ front-and-back protection and its 7.2mm profile.
- Consider the A36 if IP67 is a priority or you prefer its Snapdragon platform; the processor name alone does not prove a performance advantage.
- Compare both closely if display size, refresh rate, battery capacity, charging wattage, or Samsung’s announced update-support term is driving your choice, because the cited headline specifications match on those points.
Make the final choice using current like-for-like prices and the features that matter most to you; the historical launch discount does not establish today’s best value.
