The Samsung Galaxy M36 5G is the stronger fit if you want a sharper AMOLED display, stated optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main camera, and a published software-support commitment. The realme C85 5G makes the stronger specification-sheet case for battery capacity, charging speed, refresh rate, and advertised water resistance. A Smartprix comparison page updated September 16, 2026, listed both at ₹21,999; that is a dated price snapshot, not a live checkout quote.
How the Galaxy M36 and realme C85 differ
These India-market 5G phones prioritize different features. Samsung emphasizes display resolution, OIS, and a stated update commitment; realme advertises a larger battery, faster charging, a higher refresh rate, and water-resistance features. The figures below are published specifications or manufacturer claims, not results from independent head-to-head testing.
| Feature | Samsung Galaxy M36 5G | realme C85 5G | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120Hz | 144Hz LCD; realme advertises 1200 nits | The M36 has the higher stated resolution and an AMOLED panel. The C85 advertises a higher refresh rate; refresh rate alone does not establish overall image quality. |
| Battery and charging | 5000mAh typical capacity; 25W charging | 7000mAh capacity; 45W fast charging | The C85 leads on stated capacity and charging wattage. These specifications do not establish comparative real-world battery life. |
| Rear camera | 50MP OIS triple camera | 50MP main camera in the Smartprix comparison; equivalent OIS is not established by the official product page reviewed | Samsung explicitly specifies OIS. Megapixel counts alone cannot determine which camera takes better photos. |
| Front camera | 13MP; Samsung says front and rear cameras record 4K | 8MP in the Smartprix comparison | The listed resolution favors the M36, but megapixels do not guarantee better selfies. |
| Software support | Six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates announced | A corresponding update commitment is not established by the official realme page reviewed | Samsung has a documented commitment in the cited sources; that does not establish that realme has no update policy. |
| Durability claims | Samsung cites Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ | realme advertises IP69 Pro water resistance and MIL-STD 810H shock testing | These claims address different protections and do not amount to a controlled durability comparison. |
| Price information | Smartprix listed ₹21,999 as the lowest-found price | Smartprix listed ₹21,999 as the lowest-found price | The matched listing was on a comparison page last updated September 16, 2026, not a retailer checkout quote. |
Which display should you choose?
The M36 is the clearer choice on stated resolution and panel type: Samsung lists a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Realme advertises a 144Hz LCD with 1200-nit brightness. A 144Hz panel can refresh more often than a 120Hz one, but that number does not by itself mean sharper text, better contrast, or better color. Choose based on whether AMOLED and the M36’s stated resolution matter more to you than the C85’s higher advertised refresh rate.

Battery and charging: C85 leads on paper
Realme lists a 7000mAh battery and 45W fast charging for the C85. Samsung lists the M36’s battery as 5000mAh typical and supports 25W charging. Samsung’s India product page gives a 4905mAh rated minimum and notes that actual battery life varies with network conditions, usage, and other factors. It also says the 25W fast charger is sold separately.

- MORE POWER. MORE AWESOME: Enjoy smooth performance on Galaxy A37 5G. From detailed graphics while gaming to quick app launches and effortless multitasking, the Exynos 1480 keeps everything running
The larger capacity and higher charging wattage make the C85 the stronger specification-sheet option for these two criteria. They are not battery-life test results: actual endurance depends on use and conditions, and the available information does not establish which phone lasts longer in a comparable test.
Camera specifications and video
Samsung specifies a 50MP OIS triple rear camera and a 13MP front camera. Its launch announcement also says the front and rear cameras can record 4K video. The Smartprix comparison lists a 50MP main camera and an 8MP front camera for the C85; the official realme product page reviewed does not establish an equivalent OIS comparison.

That makes the M36’s stabilization and front-camera resolution advantages clearer on paper, but specs do not settle image quality. Megapixel count is not a substitute for a camera comparison, and no independent head-to-head camera test is established here.

Update commitment
Samsung announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the M36. Its India product page lists a user manual for Android 16, version 1.0, dated October 10, 2025. The official realme page reviewed does not establish a matching C85 update commitment, so buyers should seek a current, model-specific policy from realme rather than infer that none exists.

Water and impact protection
Samsung cites Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the M36. Realme advertises IP69 Pro water resistance and MIL-STD 810H shock testing for the C85. These are distinct manufacturer-stated protections, not evidence that one phone is more durable in every situation. Realme cautions that water resistance may diminish with use and that liquid-immersion damage is not covered by warranty. Check each model’s regional warranty terms before relying on a protection claim.
Price difference in India
The only matched price snapshot established for this comparison is from Smartprix: its page, last updated September 16, 2026, listed a lowest-found price of ₹21,999 for each phone. That suggests no price difference in that particular snapshot, but it does not confirm current stock, identical storage configurations, or the price available at checkout.

Which phone is the better fit?
Choose the Galaxy M36 5G if
- You prefer a stated FHD+ Super AMOLED display over a higher refresh rate on an LCD.
- You value Samsung’s specified OIS main camera and 13MP front camera.
- You want the published commitment of six Android upgrade generations and six years of security updates.
Consider the realme C85 5G if
- You prioritize its stated 7000mAh battery and 45W charging over the M36’s listed capacity and charging wattage.
- You want the higher advertised 144Hz refresh rate.
- You value realme’s advertised IP69 Pro water resistance and MIL-STD 810H shock testing, while understanding the stated limitations.
Neither phone is an evidence-based overall winner without a current, like-for-like price and independent tests relevant to your priorities. The specifications point to a choice between Samsung’s display, camera-stabilization, and support advantages and realme’s battery, charging, refresh-rate, and advertised-protection claims.
