The Galaxy M36 5G is the better fit if you want a lower-cost Samsung phone with microSD expansion; the Galaxy A36 5G stands out for faster 45 W charging and a higher-resolution third rear camera. For price, compare the same RAM and storage configuration at checkout: the available figures are from different dates and sources, so they do not establish a like-for-like current price gap.

Specifications are from Samsung’s Galaxy A36 5G specifications and Galaxy M36 5G specifications. The A36 specification page does not list microSD support, which is not the same as an explicit statement that expansion is impossible.
What is the price difference in India?
The available prices are not a matched, same-date comparison. Samsung India’s A36 purchase page showed ₹36,999 for the 8 GB/128 GB configuration when accessed on October 7, 2026. Samsung’s 2025 M36 launch announcement listed introductory prices of ₹16,499 for 6 GB/128 GB, ₹17,999 for 8 GB/128 GB, and ₹20,999 for 8 GB/256 GB. It also specified a ₹1,000 instant bank discount for the 6 GB/128 GB offer. Those M36 figures are launch prices, not evidence of its current price. Samsung India’s A36 purchase page and Samsung’s M36 launch announcement provide those figures.

Which phone is better for your needs?
Choose the Galaxy M36 if storage flexibility and price matter most
- Samsung documents microSD expansion up to 2 TB, useful if you want to add card storage rather than rely only on built-in capacity.
- Its 2025 launch prices were below the A36 purchase-page figure cited above, though those dates and variants do not establish today’s like-for-like saving.
- The M36 has a 120 Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED display and the same stated six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates as the A36.
Choose the Galaxy A36 if charging speed is a priority
- Its stated 45 W charging is faster on paper than the M36’s 25 W. Samsung says the A36 package does not include a travel adapter, so factor in one if you need it.
- The A36 has a 5 MP third rear camera, compared with the M36’s 2 MP unit. This is a hardware-spec distinction, not proof of better overall photos.
- Samsung lists up to 29 hours of video playback for the A36’s 5,000 mAh typical battery; that is a manufacturer-listed figure, not a comparative battery test.
How do the cameras and displays compare?
Both phones have a 50 MP primary rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8 MP ultrawide. The A36’s third rear camera is 5 MP, while the M36’s is 2 MP; their front cameras are 12 MP and 13 MP, respectively. Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos, and no comparative camera test is claimed here.
Both also use FHD+ Super AMOLED panels with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The listed full-rectangle measurements are 17.01 cm for the A36 and 16.91 cm for the M36. These specifications do not by themselves establish differences in brightness, color accuracy, or real-world viewing quality.

Charging, battery and software support
Samsung specifies 45 W charging for the A36 and 25 W for the M36. Samsung’s A36 launch announcement dated March 3, 2025 describes 45 W charging and Super Fast Charge 2.0 for the A36; it does not describe the M36. The M36’s 25 W specification appears on its Samsung product page. Neither wattage alone establishes a full-charge time, which can vary with the adapter and charging conditions. Samsung’s A36 package listing excludes a travel adapter.
Both phones have a 5,000 mAh typical battery. Samsung lists up to 29 hours of video playback for the A36, while the M36 listing gives its typical battery capacity; those are not equivalent endurance measurements. Samsung advertises six generations of operating-system or Android upgrades and six years of security updates for both models.

Release timing and availability
Samsung announced the A36 in India on March 3, 2025. Samsung announced M36 availability in India from July 12, 2025. These dates establish their announcement and availability timing, not current stock or pricing.
