The Galaxy A57 is thinner and lighter, has a slightly larger display, a higher-resolution ultrawide camera and a longer promised software-support period than the Galaxy A35. Samsung’s U.S. launch prices differed by $150, but that 2024-versus-2026 comparison is not a guide to today’s retail prices. Whether the A57 is worth the extra cost depends chiefly on its current price in your market and how much you value those changes.

Samsung’s stated display diagonals include the rounded corners and camera cutout caveats in its specifications. The A35 RAM and storage table lists 6 GB and 128 GB, with options varying by carrier and market. Samsung lists several RAM and storage combinations for the A57; availability varies by region. Check the specific regional model before buying. Samsung’s A35 U.S. announcement and Samsung’s A57 global announcement provide the cited specifications.
How much more does the Galaxy A57 cost?
Samsung announced a U.S. starting price of $399.99 for the A35 5G in 2024 and $549.99 for the A57 5G in 2026. Subtracting those launch prices gives a $150 difference. They are prices announced in different years, not a same-day retail comparison, and do not establish what either phone costs now. Samsung’s A35 announcement and A57 U.S. announcement state those launch prices.
For a useful buying comparison, check the same country, storage capacity, unlocked or carrier-locked status, seller and condition for both phones on the same date. Prices and configurations vary by market. A discounted A35 could be a better value than the launch-price arithmetic suggests; an unusually small current price gap could make the newer model more compelling.

What changes in everyday hardware?
The A57 is noticeably thinner and lighter on paper
Samsung lists the A57 at 179 g and 6.9 mm thick, compared with 209 g and 8.2 mm for the A35. That is a 30 g weight difference and 1.3 mm less thickness for the A57. Their listed heights are nearly the same, while the A57 is narrower. These dimensions make the newer model the more compact-feeling option on paper, though comfort depends on the case and the user’s hand.
The screen is slightly larger, with the same maximum refresh rate
The A57 has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+ display; the A35 has a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. Both are listed with refresh rates up to 120 Hz. The A57’s diagonal advantage is modest, and the specification names alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.

The ultrawide specification improves, but megapixels are not a verdict
Both phones have a 50 MP main camera and a 5 MP macro camera in the cited specifications. Samsung lists a 12 MP ultrawide for the A57 and an 8 MP ultrawide for the A35. The A35’s listed main camera explicitly includes optical image stabilization (OIS); the cited A57 specification describes a 50 MP wide camera but does not state OIS in the summary. A higher megapixel count does not by itself prove better image quality, and these specifications do not substitute for comparable photo tests.

Battery capacity is equal; endurance is not established
Samsung lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery for each model. Equal capacity does not mean equal battery life: actual endurance depends on display, network, software, settings and workload. The available figures do not establish a controlled, independent battery-life comparison. Charging details sufficient for a direct comparison are not established here either.
Water-resistance information is asymmetric
Samsung’s global A57 specifications list IP68. The cited A35 U.S. launch table does not state an IP rating. That omission does not prove the A35 has no water resistance; confirm the rating for the exact regional model rather than treating the two tables as equivalent evidence.

Which phone has longer software support?
At launch, Samsung promised the A35 four generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and five years of security updates. For the A57, Samsung promises up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates. That gives the newer phone the longer stated support window, which can matter if you plan to keep a phone for several years. These are announcement commitments, not a statement of the A35’s current installed Android version or remaining update period.

The A57 is the stronger fit if you want
- A substantially lighter, thinner phone.
- A slightly larger display and a 12 MP rather than 8 MP listed ultrawide camera.
- The longer software-support commitment announced by Samsung.
- An IP68 rating on the global A57 specification, after confirming the rating and variant for your market.
Keeping or choosing the A35 may make more sense if
- Your A35 still meets your needs and replacing it would cost more than the improvements are worth to you.
- You can find the A35 at a materially lower current price than the A57 in the same market and comparable configuration.
- You value its listed 13 MP front camera or want the A35’s explicitly listed OIS specification considered in your decision.
If you already own an A35, the specs point to a selective rather than automatic upgrade: the A57’s clearest differences are its lower weight and thickness, longer promised support, and higher-resolution ultrawide. If camera quality, speed or endurance is the deciding factor, these specifications alone cannot settle the choice; look for independent comparisons of the exact regional models and your typical use.

What to check before buying either model
- Confirm the exact regional model, storage and RAM configuration; Samsung notes market and carrier variation.
- Compare current prices for equivalent storage, seller, condition and unlocked or carrier status.

- Verify water-resistance details for the specific A35 variant if that feature matters.
- Confirm accessory fit by exact model. Compatibility between A35 and A57 cases or screen protectors is not established.
