For the US 128GB unlocked models, Samsung’s March 2025 MSRP list puts the Galaxy A35 5G and Galaxy A36 5G at the same $399.99 price. The A36’s main upgrades are a larger, brighter screen, faster wired charging, and a longer software-support commitment. Whether it is the better buy now depends on the current price of each phone and the exact regional configuration.

How different are their screens?
Samsung lists the A36 with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and peak brightness up to 1,200 nits. The A35 is listed with a 6.6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and peak brightness up to 1,000 nits. Both listings specify a 120Hz refresh rate. The A36 therefore offers a slightly larger screen and a higher stated peak-brightness figure; those specifications do not by themselves establish how either phone performs in every lighting condition.

Yes. Samsung lists 45W wired charging for the A36 and 25W for the A35. Both phones have a stated typical battery capacity of 5,000mAh. Charging speed depends on the charger and conditions, so the wattage difference is not a promise of a particular charging time. Samsung’s comparison does not provide a measured head-to-head charging test.

How long will Samsung support each phone?
Samsung’s comparison states that the A36 is eligible for six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, compared with four generations and five years for the A35. That is a longer stated support commitment for the A36, but Samsung’s published commitment does not specify a particular arrival date for each update.
Which phone has the better camera?
The listed front-camera specifications favor different features: the A35 has a 13MP front camera, while the A36 has a 12MP front camera with video HDR. Megapixel counts alone cannot determine which camera produces better photos or video. Samsung India lists the A35’s rear cameras as 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro; check the exact market model’s specifications before relying on those details for another region.

Is the A36 worth more than the A35?
In the United States, Samsung announced both phones at a starting price of $399.99, and its March 2025 MSRP sheet lists each 128GB unlocked version at $399.99. That establishes a $0 difference in those dated MSRP figures—not their current selling prices. Retail discounts, carrier offers, trade-ins, stock, and configuration can change the amount you actually pay.
- Choose the A36 if the two comparable models are similarly priced and you value its larger, brighter listed display, 45W wired charging, or longer software-support commitment.
- Choose the A35 if it is meaningfully cheaper where you shop and its listed display, charging, and support fit your needs. Its front camera has a higher stated megapixel count, but that alone is not evidence of better image quality.
What to check before buying
These specifications and prices do not establish that every A35 and A36 sold worldwide is identical. Before ordering, compare the seller’s exact model number and market, storage and RAM, network bands, unlocked or carrier status, and current offer. Confirm that any case or screen protector is made for the exact model rather than assuming A35 and A36 accessories fit interchangeably.
