On Windows and Linux, Firefox and Microsoft Edge open their screenshot tools with Ctrl+Shift+S; Firefox uses Command+Shift+S on macOS. Chrome’s documented method uses DevTools rather than a dedicated browser shortcut. Safari’s current full-page shortcut is not verified here, so it would be unsafe to guess one.
A full-page capture is different from a normal screen grab: it includes content below and above the visible viewport. The guide below separates the key combination that opens a tool from the menu command that actually captures the entire webpage.
Quick shortcut table
| Browser | Operating system | How to start | Full-page action | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox | Windows/Linux | Ctrl+Shift+S | Select Save full page | Mozilla Support documents this workflow; page marked updated June 15, 2026. |
| Firefox | macOS | Command+Shift+S | Select Save full page | The same Firefox screenshot panel offers Save visible for the viewport only. |
| Microsoft Edge | Windows/Linux | Ctrl+Shift+S | Select Capture full page | Microsoft says availability and behavior can vary by device type, market and browser version. |
| Google Chrome | Windows/Linux/macOS | Open DevTools and activate Device Mode | More options → Capture a full size screenshot | Chrome’s documented procedure is menu-based. Ctrl/Command+Shift+P opens the Command Menu, but is not itself established as a one-step full-page capture. |
| Safari | macOS | Not stated here | Not stated here | An authoritative, current Apple workflow was not confirmed, so do not rely on an unverified shortcut. |
What “full website screenshot” means
A visible-area screenshot records only the pixels currently on screen. A full-page screenshot stitches or renders the page’s content beyond that viewport into one image. Firefox labels the choices Save full page and Save visible; Edge describes its option as capturing material that extends beyond the screen; Chrome’s full-size command includes content that is not visible in the viewport.
The distinction matters when you are documenting a long article, reviewing a landing page, attaching evidence to a bug report or archiving a design. A keyboard shortcut may open a browser panel, but you still have to choose the full-page command rather than the visible-area command.

Firefox: Ctrl/Command+Shift+S, then Save full page
Windows and Linux
- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- In Firefox’s screenshot interface, choose Save full page.
- Save the resulting image. Mozilla says it is downloaded to Firefox’s default download folder.
macOS
- With the page active, press Command+Shift+S.
- Choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- Check the default download folder for the saved image.
Mozilla Support describes the feature directly: “You can capture the full page.” If you only need what is currently displayed, choose Save visible instead.
Firefox developer-tool alternatives
For repeatable or developer-oriented work, Firefox DevTools can expose a screenshot button. Enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons, then use that button. Firefox’s Web Console also accepts:
screenshot filename.png --fullpage
This is a DevTools command, not a system-wide shortcut. The filename is the name Firefox uses for the saved PNG.

Microsoft Edge: Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page
- Open the target page in Edge.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Select Capture full page.
- Use Edge’s controls to copy or save the result.
Microsoft describes the Screenshot feature as able to “Capture an entire webpage in a single screenshot—even content that extends beyond your screen.” The exact availability and functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version, so an installation that does not show the command may need an update or may not have the feature enabled.

Chrome’s official developer documentation does not establish a dedicated browser-wide full-page key combination. Its documented workflow is:
- Open Chrome DevTools for the page.
- Activate Device Mode.
- Open the DevTools toolbar’s More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot.
The result includes content outside the viewport. Chrome also provides the Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows/Linux or Command+Shift+P on macOS. The cited Command Menu documentation covers area screenshots; it does not establish that pressing this chord alone captures an entire webpage. Use it to search for commands only after DevTools is open, and choose the explicitly named full-size option.

Safari: do not guess the shortcut
The current Safari-for-Mac full-page procedure and keyboard shortcut are not confirmed by an authoritative Apple source in the material available for this guide. Safari therefore cannot be given a verified shortcut here. If Safari is a requirement for your workflow, check Apple’s current Safari support documentation and the menus in the exact Safari version installed on the target Mac before documenting a procedure.
Do not present a normal macOS screen-capture chord as a full-website capture: those commands capture the screen or a selected region, not necessarily the page below the viewport.
Shortcut versus capture command: the common source of mistakes
- Firefox and Edge: the shortcut opens a screenshot feature; the full-page result requires selecting Save full page or Capture full page.
- Chrome: the documented route starts in DevTools and ends with More options → Capture a full size screenshot.
- Safari: no verified shortcut is supplied here.
If a result contains only the portion currently visible, you used a visible-area action. Reopen the tool and look specifically for the full-page wording.

Troubleshooting full-page captures
The key combination does nothing
- Make sure the browser window, rather than another application, has focus.
- On macOS, use Command where Firefox requires it; Ctrl is the documented Firefox and Edge entry key on Windows/Linux.
- A managed computer or another utility may intercept the chord. Open the browser’s screenshot feature from its menus and continue with the full-page command.
There is no full-page option
- In Firefox, verify that the screenshot panel opened and that you are choosing Save full page, not Save visible.
- In Edge, check whether the Screenshot feature is available in your device, market and browser version.
- In Chrome, use DevTools Device Mode; the full-size command is not the same as a normal screen capture.
- For Safari, treat the absence of a known command as unresolved rather than substituting an unverified shortcut.
Images or sections are missing
Long pages can change while they are being rendered. Wait for the page to finish loading, dismiss overlays that cover content and try the full-page command again. If a site loads images only after scrolling, allow that loading to complete before capturing. A screenshot records the page state at capture time; it is not a guarantee that interactive or continuously changing content will appear in one stable state.
The page is too long or the file is inconvenient
Very long pages require more browser memory and produce large image files. Consider capturing a meaningful section, reducing the page’s content first, or using a PDF workflow when the recipient needs selectable text rather than a single raster image. Keep the original page URL and capture time with the file when it is being used as evidence.
Choosing the right method
| Need | Best documented choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fast manual capture in Firefox | Firefox shortcut, then Save full page | Direct entry with an explicit full-page control. |
| Fast manual capture in Edge | Edge shortcut, then Capture full page | Direct entry and copy/save controls. |
| Responsive-layout inspection | Chrome DevTools Device Mode | The documented full-size command is available from the developer toolbar. |
| Automated, repeatable captures | An HTTP screenshot service | Removes manual browser setup and can be called from scripts or CI. |
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.

Practical reliability and cost notes
- Built-in browser capture has no separate API charge, but it is tied to the browser session, local machine and page state.
- DevTools workflows are better suited to inspecting a particular viewport; repeatable jobs need the same viewport, page state and waiting conditions each time.
- For automated work, record the URL, viewport, wait condition and output format. A page that changes after a deploy can legitimately produce a different image.
- If a site presents a bot check, blank response or timeout, a service that reports that outcome separately from a successful billed capture makes failures easier to audit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ctrl+Shift+S itself save a full webpage in Firefox or Edge?
No. In both browsers it opens the screenshot interface; you must choose the explicitly labeled full-page action.
Recommended Free Tools
Is Ctrl/Command+Shift+P Chrome’s full-page screenshot shortcut?
It opens DevTools’ Command Menu. Chrome’s documented full-page procedure still requires Device Mode and More options → Capture a full size screenshot.
Can I publish a Safari shortcut from this guide?
Not responsibly without checking Apple’s current documentation for the exact Safari version and macOS release.
