The Fujifilm instax Pal 2 is a pocket-size digital camera with two notable additions: an optical viewfinder for composing shots and a built-in USB Type-C connector for transferring images to a phone. It still does not print photos itself. To make physical instax prints, you need a compatible separate printer or hybrid camera, plus film.
What changed on the instax Pal 2?
Fujifilm announced the Pal 2 on September 14, 2026, as the second generation of its small digital instax Pal camera. The headline change is an optical viewfinder, described by Fujifilm as an authentic optical viewfinder. A 1.0-inch LCD on top of the camera is for reviewing images.

The other major addition is a built-in USB Type-C connector. The camera continues to pair with Fujifilm’s dedicated app over Bluetooth, and USB Type-C provides a wired option for transferring images to a smartphone after pairing. Fujifilm also lists 10 megapixels and a 1/3.06-inch sensor for the Pal 2 in its Singapore release; those are manufacturer-stated regional specifications.
How do you transfer Pal 2 photos to a phone?
Use the dedicated instax Pal app, which Fujifilm says is required for use. It can act as a remote shutter and supports storing, transferring, editing, and sharing images. After Bluetooth pairing, connect the camera’s USB Type-C port to the phone’s USB Type-C port for wired transfer; Bluetooth transfer is also available.

Fujifilm’s product page claims USB Type-C transfers take about 0.7 seconds per image, compared with Bluetooth. That is the manufacturer’s stated speed, not a guaranteed result: transfer time can vary with conditions, file, and phone. Fujifilm Singapore’s release specifies USB-C iPhones running iOS 16 or later and Android devices running Android 12 or later. Those are requirements stated in that regional release, so check current app and device support for your phone before buying.
Can the instax Pal 2 print photos?
No. The Pal 2 is a digital camera, not a self-printing instant camera. It stores images and sends them to the app; for physical prints, send them from the app to a compatible instax Link smartphone printer or a supported hybrid instax camera, such as the mini Evo or mini LiPlay. Film is sold separately.

Fujifilm names instax mini, SQUARE, and WIDE film formats for printing. The Pal 2 also lets you select mini, SQUARE, WIDE, or frameless image formats before adding effects. The camera’s selected image format and the printer or hybrid camera determine the output workflow; the Pal 2 itself has no instant film to expose.
What creative features and storage does it offer?
Filters and animation
Fujifilm lists five filter themes, each with six effects. Its instax Animation mode captures 10 frames for a flipbook-style animation. These are announced feature counts, not an assessment of image quality or results.

Internal storage and microSD
The camera can hold up to 100 photos before they are transferred to the app, according to Fujifilm’s North American announcement. It also accepts microSD cards, sold separately. Fujifilm’s cited material does not establish a compatible card capacity or format, so check the current manual before choosing a card.
Price, availability, and included accessories
FUJIFILM North America Corporation announced 2026 suggested retail prices of $169.95 USD and $219.99 CAD. Its release expected US availability in late September 2026 and listed Black and White color options. These are launch details, not confirmation of current stock or present-day selling prices.

The North American release lists a USB Type-C cable, hand strap, camera-angle adjustment accessory, and one-year limited warranty in the package. Regional package contents and warranty terms can differ, so confirm them with the seller for your market.

The Pal 2 makes most sense if you want a small digital camera with an optical viewfinder, creative effects, and a choice of wired or wireless phone transfers—and you are comfortable using a phone app as part of the workflow. If your priority is taking a picture and getting a physical instax print straight from the camera, the Pal 2 is not that product: factor in the cost and space of a compatible printer or hybrid camera, as well as film.

Its core trade-off is flexibility versus extra steps. Digital storage and phone editing let you choose which images to print, while the separate printer or hybrid camera adds a second device to the system. The Pal 2’s new viewfinder addresses composition, but the available official information does not establish how it performs in low light or how long its battery lasts.
