You can get a limited Xbox Game Pass starter benefit on a Meta Quest headset through an eligible paid Meta Horizon+ subscription, where the offer is available. It is not unrestricted Game Pass for free: Xbox announced access to 50+ games and 10 hours of cloud gaming per month, plus Rewards for playing. Horizon+ is separately paid; Xbox listed U.S. pricing at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year in its July 2026 announcement.
What “free Xbox Game Pass on Quest” means
The benefit is included for eligible Horizon+ subscribers in locations where it is available. The Horizon+ subscription itself is not free, and the starter edition has a monthly cloud-play limit. Xbox’s July 21, 2026 announcement describes the benefit as 50+ games, 10 hours of cloud gaming each month, and Rewards for playing. The announcement lists Horizon+ at $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year in the United States. Check the current Horizon+ offer and price shown for your account before subscribing; the cited announcement does not establish availability in every region.

Xbox’s VR page lists Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S as supported headsets. Support for the headset does not by itself guarantee that the Horizon+ benefit or every cloud game is available in your region. Xbox Cloud Gaming information.

What you need before setup
- A supported Quest headset and access to Xbox Cloud Gaming in your region.
- An Xbox account with the required active subscription, or an eligible Horizon+ starter benefit where available.
- A game that is supported for cloud play and available to your plan and region. Xbox says most Game Pass titles, not all, are playable from the cloud; selected free-to-play games may also be available. Catalog and availability can vary by plan, platform, region, and time.
- A compatible controller connected by Bluetooth or USB. Some games support touch controls, but touch is not supported for every game.
- A reliable internet connection. Xbox’s cloud FAQ gives 10 Mbps as a minimum download speed and says some devices may need 20 Mbps for best quality. Its 2025 setup article recommends at least 20 Mbps for a stable experience and favors 5 GHz Wi-Fi where possible.
Horizon+ setup on Quest
Xbox’s getting-started guidance places Meta Quest in the Xbox app route. Menu labels and screens can change, so use the current app instructions rather than relying on a fixed tap count.
- Check your headset: make sure it is a Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, or Quest 3S.
- Check regional availability: confirm Xbox Cloud Gaming and the Horizon+ starter benefit are available to your account and location.
- Check your access: confirm you have the subscription or eligible Horizon+ benefit required for the game you want to play.
- Choose a cloud game: check that the specific title supports cloud play and is included for your plan and region.
- Connect a controller: pair a compatible controller over Bluetooth or connect it by USB. Use touch controls only if the particular game supports them.
- Check your connection: meet Xbox’s stated minimum of 10 Mbps; for better quality or a more stable experience, aim for 20 Mbps and use 5 GHz Wi-Fi if practical.
- Open Xbox on Quest: install the Xbox app if needed, open it, and sign in to your Xbox account.
- Start a supported cloud game: select an available title in the app and follow its on-screen prompts.

What to check if it does not work
- The benefit is missing: verify that your Horizon+ subscription and location are eligible, and check the current offer information for your account. The announcement does not establish a complete country-by-country list.
- A game will not launch: confirm the title supports cloud play and is available under your plan in your region. Game Pass membership does not make every catalog title cloud-playable.
- Streaming is unstable: check download speed, reduce competing network use, and try a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection if available. Xbox cites 20 Mbps as a recommended target for stability or best quality, depending on the guidance.
- The controls do not respond: reconnect a compatible controller by Bluetooth or USB, or verify that the game supports touch controls before playing without a controller.
