The right free price tracker depends on where you shop: CamelCamelCamel and Keepa focus on Amazon, while Chrome’s Shopping Insights can show price information for products on the web in supported countries. Use price history to judge whether today’s price looks typical and set an alert for a price you would actually pay—but treat neither a chart nor an alert as a promise that a lower price will come.
What are the best free price trackers?
There is no single best choice for every shopper, and the available product information does not support an exhaustive market ranking. These three options cover different needs:

Choose CamelCamelCamel or Keepa when the item is sold on Amazon and you want Amazon-specific history or alerts. Consider Chrome’s built-in feature if you want shopping insights while browsing the web and meet its country and setup requirements. The services do not establish identical retailer coverage or a standardized history period.
How can I get an alert when a price drops?
Set an Amazon email alert with CamelCamelCamel
- Find the exact Amazon product and variant you intend to buy. Make sure the listing, size, color, or model matches; a different variant may have a different price history.
- Review the available chart categories—Amazon, third-party new, and third-party used—rather than assuming they describe the same offer.
- Set a target price you would genuinely pay. CamelCamelCamel says it sends an email when the threshold condition is met.
- When an alert arrives, open the Amazon listing and check the current seller, condition, shipping, stock, and checkout price before deciding.
CamelCamelCamel describes its price and availability data as coming from Amazon and being updated constantly, but it also tells shoppers to confirm the live price and availability on Amazon before purchase. The alert is a notification that a threshold was reached, not a recommendation or guarantee of a future deal.
Track a product in Chrome
Google’s documented Chrome tracking features depend on eligibility and settings. In the listed countries—Australia, Canada, India, Japan, and the United States—sign in to Chrome with a Google account, enable tab and history sync, and turn on “Make searches and browsing better.” Google’s help documentation also describes tracking products from product pages on Android, viewing tracked products, managing mobile and email notifications, and seeing a price-drop badge on open tabs. Its discount badge is separately limited to US users. Availability and interface details can change, so consult Google’s current help page if a setting or control is missing.
How do I check whether an Amazon deal is actually a good price?
- Match the product precisely. Compare the same model and variant, and distinguish new, used, and marketplace offers where the tracker provides those categories.
- Read the history, not just the current discount label. CamelCamelCamel exposes high, low, and average values for its tracked price types. Keepa provides price-history charts. A current price below a recent high does not by itself establish that the offer is unusually good.
- Set your own buying threshold. Pick a price that fits your budget and the value the item has to you. An alert reports a price condition; it cannot tell you whether waiting is worthwhile for your circumstances.
- Verify the live offer at checkout. Confirm seller, condition, shipping, availability, and the final price on Amazon. Historical data may not describe every seller or offer you can buy now.
Price history is context, not a forecast. The reviewed services do not establish one shared history window or guarantee that a lower price, the same seller, or in-stock availability will return.
What to know about data, coverage, and cost
Coverage is not interchangeable
CamelCamelCamel and Keepa are Amazon-focused in the product information described here. CamelCamelCamel lists eight supported Amazon locales; its homepage identifies itself as an Amazon US tracker and provides a location selector. Chrome’s feature is described for products on the web, but Google’s country list and setup requirements still apply. Do not assume that an Amazon chart covers another retailer or every offer in a marketplace.

Keepa API access is not the same as consumer tracking
Keepa’s API documentation covers product histories and data, marketplace offers, deals, seller data, and tracking. API requests require a subscribed API plan and access key. That is a separate developer product; the API requirement alone does not establish what consumer chart or alert features cost or which limits apply.

Prices and availability need a live check
Historical charts help compare a current offer with recorded prices, but the live seller, shipping, stock, and checkout total can differ. CamelCamelCamel explicitly recommends checking Amazon before buying. None of the described history or alert features guarantees a future price or that an item will remain available.
