ChangeTower is the clearest documented free alternative to Hexowatch: its official pricing page lists a no-card plan that checks three pages once a day. If you need cloud monitoring with selected-page regions, login handling, or longer history, consider Wachete—but its reviewed homepage does not establish a free quota. The right choice depends on how many pages you watch, how quickly you need alerts, and whether you need visual or text changes.

These are source-based descriptions, not results from side-by-side testing. Plan limits and prices can change; confirm the current terms on each vendor’s site before moving a critical watch list.

How to choose an alternative

Start with page count and check interval

Write down the number of pages you need to watch and the shortest acceptable delay before noticing a change. ChangeTower’s documented free allowance is three pages checked daily. That can work for slow-moving reference pages, but it is a poor fit if you need frequent checks or have a larger list. Do not assume a plan’s listed page count also means checks happen at the same frequency across all paid tiers.

Decide what kind of change matters

  • Text or keyword changes: Useful for policy updates, job postings, announcements, and specific terms.
  • Visual changes: Useful when layout, imagery, or a screenshot-level difference matters, rather than only extracted text.
  • A specific region: Monitoring only a price, stock label, or other page section can reduce irrelevant alerts. Wachete says it supports whole pages or selected parts.
  • Availability or technical changes: If you need to know when a page goes down or a site changes its underlying technology, check that the candidate explicitly offers that monitoring mode.

Check how pages are accessed

For pages that render content with JavaScript, require sign-in, display a consent prompt, or vary by location, confirm how the service handles those steps. ChangeTower says it can render JavaScript-loaded pages and use recorded actions for login, cookie-banner dismissal, or location selection. It also says pages that block automated traffic outright cannot be monitored. Wachete says its service supports modern interactive pages and pages requiring login. These are vendor descriptions, not guarantees that a particular target page will work.

Compare delivery and history

Check which notification channels are included and how long prior snapshots or changes remain available. Wachete lists email, phone, and chat-tool alerts and up to 12 months of history. ChangeTower’s free plan lists email notifications. If you need an audit trail, confirm retention and export details directly with the vendor rather than assuming they are included in a free plan.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

When ChangeTower is the practical free replacement

ChangeTower is the best-supported starting point when you need a genuinely documented free allowance rather than a tool that merely has a pricing page. Its official pricing page says the Free plan watches three pages once per day, costs nothing, and does not require a card. It includes AI monitoring, content-change detection, keyword tracking, and email notifications. Check ChangeTower’s current pricing before you set up a long-running workflow.

ChangeTower describes its service this way: “ChangeTower watches the web pages you name and tells you when what is on them changes.” It says monitoring happens externally, so you do not need to install code on the monitored site or own that site. Its FAQ also describes rendering JavaScript-loaded pages and recording actions for login, consent dismissal, or location selection. Automated access can still fail when a target blocks the service.

Be cautious about inferring higher-tier check schedules from a single table. ChangeTower’s pricing table lists Business checks hourly, while its FAQ says every 20 minutes. Because those official statements conflict, confirm the Business interval with ChangeTower before purchasing if that frequency matters.

When Wachete or another option may fit better

Wachete for regions, logins, and cloud operation

Wachete says its checks run in the cloud, so there is no need to leave your own device running. Its homepage lists whole-page and selected-region monitoring, support for interactive and login-required pages, email, phone, and chat alerts, up to 12 months of history, and connections through Zapier, AI assistants, and an API. The reviewed homepage does not state a specific free monitor allowance, so check Wachete’s current pricing before treating it as a free replacement.

changedetection.io for a self-managed route

The changedetection.io project describes content-change monitoring, price-drop and restock alerts, and defacement monitoring, and mentions both self-hosted and hosted options. It may suit someone comfortable evaluating and operating monitoring software. The project information cited here does not establish a current hosted price or a setup requirement that applies to every user, so inspect the project’s current instructions and hosting terms before choosing it.

Visualping and Distill need a live plan check

Visualping and Distill are relevant services to investigate, but the available official pricing-page information does not establish their current free quotas, intervals, or prices. Check each live pricing page and confirm whether its free terms match your expected page count and alert frequency; avoid relying on figures repeated by third-party comparison articles without confirmation.

Hexowatch describes monitoring visual appearance, visible content, keywords, technology stack, HTML or source code, availability, prices, and WHOIS information. Its homepage also lists sitemap changes, API endpoints, backlinks, and RSS monitoring, with vendor-described uses including competitor pricing, product availability, recruitment alerts, tamper monitoring, review tracking, and page archiving for legal or compliance work. These are capabilities Hexowatch advertises, not independently verified comparative results. See Hexowatch’s feature descriptions.

Hexowatch’s pricing page, as reviewed on October 3, 2026, did not render enough information to establish a dependable complete free-plan quota or all subscription limits. It describes an optional residential GEO proxy add-on starting at $9.99 per month, but that does not establish the price or allowance of a complete plan. Check the live pricing interface before assuming Hexowatch includes a particular number of free checks. Check Hexowatch pricing.

Hexowatch says “over 150,000 businesses” trust its service; this is a vendor-published claim with no publication year shown on the page, not an independently verified market statistic. Hexowatch homepage.

ScreenshotNeo: an alternative for capturing pages, not monitoring changes

If your need is to capture a website as an image or PDF—not to receive ongoing alerts when it changes—try ScreenshotNeo first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, so it serves a different job from continuous change-monitoring services such as ChangeTower or Wachete.

One-call screenshot example

Use this cURL request to capture a page as WebP. Replace the URL with the page you want to capture and supply your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

What it does—and does not—replace

ScreenshotNeo removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with response headers reporting the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents such as Claude, Cursor, or other MCP clients. It does not replace a website-change monitor when you need recurring checks and change alerts.

ScreenshotNeo’s free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo free.

Questions to settle before switching

  • How many distinct pages must be watched, and how often must each one be checked?
  • Will text, keyword, visual, or selected-region changes produce the useful alert?
  • Does the target page require JavaScript rendering, login, a consent choice, or a location selection?
  • Are email alerts sufficient, or do you need phone, chat, API, or automation integrations?
  • How long must the change history remain available?
  • Can the service reach the target without being blocked by its anti-automation controls?

For most readers looking for a documented free starting point, test ChangeTower’s three-page daily plan against the pages that matter. If your workflow needs region selection or longer history, evaluate Wachete’s live pricing and capabilities before migrating. No source cited here establishes that one alternative is universally best for all page counts, intervals, and monitoring needs.
