FramePort can install user-supplied Quest games on Valve’s Steam Frame, but compatibility is title-specific: its current tested-games list marks six Quest titles as not running. The listed causes range from 32-bit-only builds to graphics-driver crashes. FramePort’s list is a project-maintained snapshot, not a Valve certification or a guarantee that every unlisted game will work.

What FramePort does on Steam Frame

FramePort is an independent desktop app intended to help install Meta Quest, Android, and PC VR apps on Valve’s Steam Frame. The project says it handles transferring game files, setup, compatibility patches, and Steam library shortcuts. It is not a game store: users provide legally obtained game executables, and FramePort says it does not download, share, or unlock games. See the FramePort project repository for its description and requirements.

For Quest games, FramePort describes a path that translates APKs to OpenXR with OVRPort, applies Frame-specific patches, and runs the result in Valve’s Android runtime, Lepton. Standard Android apps can instead appear in flat windows. PC VR is a separate route: the project guide describes experimental Proton execution on the headset or streaming from a Windows PC; Oculus-only PC games may involve Revive. These paths are not interchangeable, so a Quest APK’s status does not establish whether a PC version or streamed copy will work. The FramePort compatibility guide explains the different approaches.

Which Quest games does FramePort list as not running?

FramePort’s tested-games list currently marks these six entries “Doesn’t run.” The failure explanations below are FramePort’s own, not independently confirmed diagnoses. Check the live tested-games list for changes and additional titles.

Quest title Reason listed by FramePort
Espire 1: VR Operative (Quest Edition) Mesa GL driver crash during texture upload.
HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded Vulkan driver crash, identified as freedreno, even without Valve layers.
Journey of the Gods 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame has no AArch32 support.
Shadow Point 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame has no AArch32 support.
Sniper Elite VR GPU hang reported as “zink: DEVICE LOST,” including with MSAA off.
Sports Scramble (Santa Cruz) 32-bit only; FramePort says Steam Frame has no AArch32 support.

In FramePort’s list, three of the six are marked 32-bit only; the other three are associated with graphics-driver crashes or a GPU hang. The exact edition matters: the list names Quest versions, including the “Santa Cruz” label for Sports Scramble, rather than making a claim about every edition or platform build.

Does a Quest game that is not listed work?

Not necessarily. FramePort says it cannot test every app, and its list includes working and “works with issues” entries as well as failures. Unlisted games may work, sometimes with a suggested patch, but their absence is not a compatibility result. Game versions, Frame software, patches, and FramePort’s catalog can all change.

Valve’s own Steam Frame compatibility review is a different system. Valve describes Steam Frame as a standalone SteamOS headset that can run applications locally and stream PC VR content. Its documented standalone labels are Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown; the review considers factors such as performance, display legibility, controller use, and compatibility with the software and hardware stack. Valve’s local review does not cover games streamed from a PC. See Valve’s Steam Frame compatibility review documentation and Steam Frame documentation. A FramePort status should therefore not be read as a Valve rating, or vice versa.

How to check a specific game before trying it

  1. Identify the build. Confirm whether you mean the Quest APK or a PC VR version. A status for one does not automatically apply to the other.
  2. Check FramePort’s exact entry. Search the project’s tested-games list for the title and edition. Note whether it says working, works with issues, or doesn’t run, and read any listed cause.
  3. Separate local play from streaming. If you intend to stream from a Windows PC, that is a different execution path from running the Quest app locally on the headset. Valve’s standalone compatibility review is not a rating of streamed play.
  4. Use your own legally obtained files. FramePort does not supply or unlock a game. Its project documentation describes the required user-provided files and workflow.
  5. For an unlisted title, treat the result as unknown. FramePort invites users to try apps and report issues or patch suggestions; the project author makes clear that not every app can be tested. That is a request for community testing, not a promise of support.

Why a Quest game may fail on Steam Frame

The six listed failures illustrate two different limits. A 32-bit-only game may not run because FramePort says the headset lacks AArch32 support; a compatibility patch cannot by itself supply a processor architecture the runtime does not support. Other entries are attributed to driver-level behavior, such as a Mesa GL or Vulkan crash, or a GPU hang. A game can therefore fail even when its files install successfully.

These explanations apply to the entries in FramePort’s current list, not to every title that fails or to future software versions. The list is useful for spotting known trouble, but it does not establish that a specific failure is permanent or that a new patch will fix it.
