Robert Bosch ranked first among MEMS suppliers in Yole Group’s 2024 revenue ranking, followed by Broadcom, Qorvo and TDK. Their top-four positions reflect strength in different markets—not a single, uniform MEMS business: Bosch leads in smart and high-end sensing, Broadcom and Qorvo in RF filtering, and TDK in motion sensors.

Who leads the MEMS market?

Yole Group’s 2024 supplier-revenue ranking placed Robert Bosch first, Broadcom second, Qorvo third and TDK fourth. Bosch reported $2 billion in MEMS revenue, up 12% year over year. Publicly available figures cited for the ranking do not state comparable revenue totals for the other three companies, so their order is more useful here than an unsourced estimate of the gap between them.

2024 rank Company What the ranking indicates
1 Robert Bosch $2 billion in MEMS revenue, up 12% year over year; Yole Group, 2024 ranking
2 Broadcom Revenue not stated in the cited Yole Group 2024 public coverage
3 Qorvo Revenue not stated in the cited Yole Group 2024 public coverage
4 TDK Revenue not stated in the cited Yole Group 2024 public coverage

“Dominating” means leading the ranking by MEMS supplier revenue, not controlling the entire market. The available 2024 figures do not establish the four companies’ combined market share or show that they make up a majority of sales.

Why are Bosch, Broadcom, Qorvo and TDK ahead?

Robert Bosch: smart and high-end sensing

Bosch’s first-place position reflects its strength in smart sensors and a relatively resilient position in high-end systems. Its reported revenue growth indicates that its MEMS business expanded during 2024, even as parts of the industry were recovering from a correction cycle.

Broadcom and Qorvo: RF MEMS filters

Broadcom and Qorvo are leaders in RF MEMS filtering, but their recent business conditions differ. Yole reported that Broadcom’s RF MEMS business stagnated as some original equipment manufacturers shifted away from FBAR filters. Qorvo continued to benefit from BAW-SMR filters supplied to major smartphone OEMs.

TDK: motion sensors for consumer devices

TDK’s fourth-place ranking is supported by motion sensors used in phones, wearables and other consumer electronics. Those devices are a different application base from the RF filtering that distinguishes Broadcom and Qorvo, or the smart and high-end sensing associated with Bosch.

How big is the MEMS market?

Yole Group estimated 2024 MEMS market revenue at $15.4 billion, with 31 billion units shipped. Its forecast, published in 2025, projects revenue of $19.2 billion by 2030, equivalent to about 3.7% compound annual growth over the forecast period. The forecast is a projection, not a reported result.

Yole’s 2025 coverage also said the inventory effect that had weighed on the market ended in the second quarter of 2024. That helps explain the timing of the recovery, but does not mean every MEMS segment or supplier experienced the same demand pattern.

What counts as a MEMS supplier in this ranking?

Yole’s ranking uses a semiconductor-process definition: MEMS are three-dimensional structures made through semiconductor processes. The methodology also includes magnetic sensors because of their close integration with inertial MEMS. This matters when comparing company rankings: a broader or narrower definition can change which products and revenues count as MEMS.

Revenue rank alone also hides important differences between companies. A useful comparison considers the supplier’s MEMS segment exposure, its end markets—such as consumer, automotive, industrial, medical or communications—its scale and manufacturing economics, and its geographic position and growth.

Where are the top 30 companies based?

Yole Group’s 2024 ranking included suppliers from four broad country groupings. The regional totals describe the composition of the top 30, not each group’s share of MEMS revenue.

What could drive growth—and what could hold it back?

Yole’s 2024 coverage identifies demand opportunities across several application areas:

  • Consumer and personal devices: wearables and true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, as well as AR/VR headsets.
  • Automotive and industry: vehicle positioning and safety, warehouse automation and predictive maintenance.
  • Health and environment: air-quality sensing, medical MEMS microphones and ultrasound transducers.
  • Other technologies: optical MEMS and MEMS oscillators.

China’s MEMS sector is expanding with state funding and policies aimed at greater self-sufficiency. Expansion may add supply and intensify competition, while price pressure, possible oversupply and sustainability concerns remain risks. These industry-wide drivers and risks do not affect every product category equally.

Does the top 30 represent 80% of the market?

An older Yole concentration analysis reported that the top 30 represented about 80% of total MEMS industry sales and that the sales threshold for entering the ranking was $52 million in that edition. Those are historical figures, not confirmed measures of the 2024 market. They should not be used to calculate current concentration or to infer the 2024 top 30’s revenue share.
