In Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override, find a hidden Cheat Code on the Island, interact with it, and enter the code to free a Sprite. Use the instructions shown in your match for the next steps: the current season’s Sprite mechanics differ from the extraction-based system used in Season 3: Runners. Sprites are in-game helpers that grant powers, and Epic says they are unavailable in competitive modes.
How do you find and spawn a Sprite in Override?
Epic’s v42.00 update notes say Cheat Codes are hidden around the Island. Interact with one and enter the code to free a Sprite. The update describes the current season as introducing a new Sprite generation, but it does not publish a complete spawn map, guaranteed coordinates, or exact spawn probabilities. Use the current in-game prompts rather than relying on coordinates or odds from unofficial guides.
Override also introduced season-specific tools and mechanics. For example, Epic describes the Cheat Code Locator as locating the nearest Cheat Code and the Extraction Accelerator as silently initiating a nearby Extraction Site. Treat these as Override features, not permanent Sprite rules; check the item descriptions and prompts in your match for what is active. In Override, follow the on-screen directions after freeing a Sprite and read its stated power and any progression or collection costs shown in-game. Epic’s current-season announcement confirms the Cheat Code step, but does not provide one universal sequence for every Sprite or publish a comprehensive guide to all current powers.

Do not assume that the Runners-era extraction process is still the way to collect Sprites. In Season 3: Runners, players found Sprites, carried them to an Extraction Site, defended the pickup while its timer ran, and banked it for future matches. Successful extractions earned Sprite Dust, which could be spent to summon previously extracted Sprites at a match’s start or upgrade powers and loot. Those were prior-season mechanics; follow Override’s prompts instead. Epic’s v41.00 Runners update notes describe that former system.
What happened to Runners Sprites and collection progress?
Epic says Sprites collected during Season 3: Runners were preserved in the Sprite Garden, where players can play with Sprites and visit friends’ garden sanctuaries. Runners Sprites also remain on the Sprite Collection page and carry over as unlocked styles for the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling and pilots for the Guardian Outfit. Gizmos and Sprite Dust, by contrast, reset at the end of Runners. These are Season 3 transition details, not a promise that future seasons will preserve the same items or resources. What if an extracted Sprite is missing from the Collection?
For the specific case of a Sprite successfully extracted but missing from the Collection, Epic’s support advice is to submit an in-game bug report. The guidance does not promise that the Sprite can be restored or that the Collection can be manually repaired. Epic’s Sprite support page also explains the general gameplay concept and notes that Sprites are not available in competitive modes.

Are Sprites available in competitive Fortnite?
No. Epic’s support page says Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes. The page also describes leveling a Sprite through exploring, getting eliminations, and surviving the Storm, but those details reflect the prior-season gameplay explanation; they should not override Override’s current match instructions.
