A Bounty Hunter Sprite is a Fortnite Sprite variant that keeps the base Sprite’s ability and adds a chance to find another Sprite when you eliminate an opponent. You can try to obtain one through eliminations, Rare Chests, Cheat Codes, or trading, and guides list particular locations to search for each variant.
What the Bounty Hunter effect does
The effect layers onto the Sprite you already have. It does not replace the base Sprite’s own ability, so a Bounty Hunter variant still performs the function of its base Sprite and additionally gives an elimination-triggered chance to find Sprites. The effect is tied to fighting: the value comes from eliminating opponents rather than from simply carrying the Sprite.
How Bounty Hunter Sprites level up
According to the Sprite Checklist tracker, Bounty Hunter variants gain Sprite XP from eliminations. Some Sprites follow special XP rules instead, so a variant’s progression is not identical across the roster. If a particular Sprite is not leveling the way you expect, check its own entry in the tracker before assuming a fault in your play.

The Beebom guide lists four routes:
- Eliminations: defeating opponents is the route tied directly to the variant’s effect.
- Rare Chests: opening them is listed as a source of Bounty Hunter variants.
- Cheat Codes: entering them is listed as a route as well.
- Trading: obtaining the variant from another player.
The same guide says Temple Vaults contain Rare Chests and Cheat Codes, and recommends attending Sprite Events when spawn rates are boosted. These are the guide’s tips rather than guaranteed spawns, and the event schedule and boost periods change, so check the in-game event information before you plan around one.

Where to search for each variant
The Beebom guide associates specific variants with specific locations. Treat these as places to look, not fixed spawn points.

How often an elimination produces a Sprite
games.gg reports a 7% chance for an elimination to produce a Sprite. Sprite Checklist, however, says Epic has not published an elimination drop rate and lists the figure as unpublished. Until Epic publishes a number, treat 7% as a third-party figure rather than a confirmed rate. The practical takeaway is that eliminations can produce another Sprite, but how often they do is not established.

How many variants exist and when they arrived
Beebom reports 20 Bounty Hunter variants alongside the Chapter 7 Season 4 release on September 24, 2026. The Sprite Checklist tracker uses a different roster and release context, including a Birthday variant that it says became available on September 26, 2026. Because the total depends on which list and which date you use, quote the count only with its source and date.
What is and is not confirmed
- None of the guides cited here quotes an official Epic Games statement, so the mechanics and locations are reported by third-party sites rather than officially confirmed.
- Variant locations are leads. The guide does not establish guaranteed spawns.
- The elimination drop rate is unpublished in the tracker, and the 7% figure appears only in games.gg’s guide.
- Roster counts and release details differ between sources, so check the in-game Sprite information for the current list.
No physical item is needed to find or use a Bounty Hunter Sprite. Everything described here happens inside Fortnite.
