Replacing the pre-applied inner screen protector on a foldable phone is usually a different, less extensive service than repairing the foldable display. In the US, Samsung lists one eligible free Galaxy Z protector application within 12 months, then $19.99 plus tax for later applications. Coverage and costs vary by phone, country, damage type, and service plan; a protector promotion is not display insurance.
Is the bubbling film the protector or the foldable display?
The thin film applied over a foldable phone’s inner display is a replaceable screen protector, not the display itself. Bubbles, scratches, or lifting at an edge can indicate a problem with the film, but do not by themselves establish that the display underneath is damaged.
A cracked, blacked-out, or malfunctioning display is a different repair. Samsung lists separate, substantially higher prices for certain Galaxy Z inner-display repairs, illustrating why it is important to identify which part needs service before comparing costs. If the display itself appears damaged, seek a service assessment rather than treating a film replacement as the solution.

Samsung Galaxy Z: US protector service
Samsung says eligible US Galaxy Z phones bought through an authorized retailer may receive one protector reapplication at no charge within 12 months. Under Samsung’s US promotion terms, the offer is for the original purchaser and the foldable inner screen, not the outside screen; proof of eligibility and other promotion conditions apply. Later applications are listed at $19.99 plus tax. Samsung notes that the price may vary by region or authorized store. The terms address scratches, bubbles, and lifting, subject to inspection for abuse or misuse.

Motorola Razr: no single published repair price
Motorola’s US support guidance says its smartphones include a one-year limited warranty, but physical screen damage is not covered by that standard warranty. MotoCare Accident Protection adds coverage for physical and liquid damage caused by drops and spills; the listed deductible range is $26–$99, depending on device. Motorola does not establish a fixed Razr foldable-screen repair price on the cited page: the out-of-warranty cost depends on the service option and issue, with a quote provided during submission or after carry-in triage. What do warranties and protection plans cover?
Do not assume that “warranty” means accidental-damage coverage, or that a protector replacement benefit pays for a damaged display. The relevant terms may distinguish a film issue, a mechanical or electrical failure, accidental damage, physical damage, and inner versus outer screens.

How to get the right quote before authorizing service
- Identify the phone and screen. Record the exact model and whether the problem is on the inner foldable display, the outer screen, or only the inner protector film.
- Check your coverage documents. Confirm the purchase country, warranty dates, plan enrollment, purchase channel, claim limits, and any eligibility window. For a plan, check how it classifies the observed damage.
- Describe the symptoms accurately. Bubbles or lifting in the film are not the same diagnosis as a cracked or malfunctioning display. Do not peel the factory-applied film to investigate; Samsung advises against removing Galaxy Z protectors yourself.
- Contact an authorized service route. Ask whether the appointment or mail-in service can replace the protector, inspect the display, or both. Confirm the applicable price, taxes, fees, deductible, and any inspection-dependent conditions before approving work.
- Keep eligibility evidence. For a promotion or claim, have proof of purchase or activation and plan details available. Samsung’s US offer, for example, is restricted by purchaser, retailer, time window, and promotion conditions.
