If your Wyze Cam is stuck on “Ready to Connect,” it has reached the camera’s setup state, but setup has not finished. Start by checking the Wyze app, phone permissions, and Wi-Fi details; then follow the reset or power steps for your camera generation. The instructions below distinguish Wyze Cam v4 setup from a v3 that stopped responding after a firmware update.
Start with the Wyze Cam v4 setup checks
Wyze’s US English v4 setup troubleshooting guide (updated April 23, 2026) and v4 setup guide (updated June 3, 2026) identify phone, network, and setup-state checks to try before a factory reset.
- Update and prepare the app. Make sure the Wyze app is current. For v4 setup, enable Bluetooth for the app and grant location permission. On iOS, Wyze says to enable Precise Location. If the Wi-Fi name does not appear on the setup screen, check that the phone is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Use the correct Wi-Fi band. Connect the phone to the same 2.4 GHz network you intend the camera to use. Wyze Cam v4 does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
- Check the network name and password. The network name (SSID) is case-sensitive, and extra spaces can cause a mismatch. Check the password carefully; displaying it in the setup field can help catch a typo.
- Move closer to the router. Keep the camera and phone or tablet within 6–10 feet of the router while setting up. This is Wyze’s setup-distance instruction, not a guaranteed connection range.
- Retry the connection. On the phone, forget the Wi-Fi network and join it again. Unplug the v4 camera for five seconds, reconnect power, and reboot the router before trying setup again.
Wyze notes that a v4 camera can say “ready to connect” even before you press SETUP, and says to continue with setup if that happens. A single press of SETUP starts the setup flow; it is not a factory reset and does not clear the camera’s saved settings or unbind it.

Factory-reset a v4 only if setup still will not finish
A reset clears the camera’s settings and previous Wi-Fi/setup state, but keeps its installed firmware. You will need to add it and set it up again as a new device.

- Remove the microSD card, if one is installed.
- Keep the camera powered and pull the base away to access the SETUP button on the bottom.
- Hold SETUP for 10 seconds, until the status light turns red. Flashing red indicates the reset is complete.
- Open the Wyze app and go through setup as a new device.
Do not use the v4 reset timing for another generation unless its own instructions specify it.
Read the v4 light and prompt together
- Flashing red with “Ready to Connect”: This is the expected v4 setup state. Continue with app and network checks rather than treating the prompt alone as proof of a hardware fault.
- Solid red: This is not the normal flashing-red setup state. Check the camera’s power/status-light guidance rather than repeating the Wi-Fi password steps.
- No light and no voice prompt: Treat this as a power or status problem first; the app’s network credentials cannot resolve a camera that is not responding.
If a Wyze Cam v3 stopped responding after a firmware update
Use this separate path only when a v3 became unresponsive after an update. Wyze’s v3 firmware-update failure guidance (updated December 3, 2024) recommends checking power before resetting.

- Unplug the camera for about 30 seconds, then reconnect it.
- If it remains unresponsive, try another power cord and adapter, or a different outlet.
- Remove the SD card, if present, and factory-reset the camera using the v3-specific instructions.
- Set the camera up as a new device in the Wyze app.
Trying another cord or adapter is relevant when power trouble is plausible; it does not fix an incorrect Wi-Fi password or missing app permission. Confirm that any replacement accessory matches the exact camera model and connector.

Use the v3 status light to choose the next step
Wyze’s v3 firmware-update guidance and v3 status-light article (updated December 6, 2023) distinguish setup completion from a camera that is still failing to reconnect.

- Solid blue: Wyze says this usually means setup completed. If the app still reports failure, retry in the app, power-cycle the camera, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data on the phone, and power-cycle the router.
- Unexpected flashing: Power-cycle the camera. If it keeps flashing red and does not reconnect, Wyze recommends setting it up as new.
- Solid red after a recent firmware upgrade: Wyze gives this a separate firmware-flashing suggestion. If the camera remains unresponsive, contact Wyze Support rather than assuming the ordinary setup loop is the cause.
- No light and no voice prompt: Try another power cord and wall plug as a power check.
When to stop repeating Wi-Fi setup
If the camera shows a normal setup prompt but will not join the network, focus on the app, permissions, 2.4 GHz network, SSID, and password. If its light or voice prompt points to power trouble—or if a v3 stopped responding immediately after firmware installation—use the corresponding status or firmware-failure steps above instead. These recommendations are from Wyze’s US English support pages; model generation matters, especially for reset instructions.
