When Teams Meeting is missing from Outlook, the fix depends first on which Outlook you use. New Outlook for Windows and Outlook on the web do not use the classic Teams COM add-in; their Teams meeting option is built in. Classic Outlook for Windows uses the Microsoft Teams Meeting add-in and can lose it after an update, a Teams migration, a policy change, or an add-in crash.
Use the section that matches your Outlook version. Installing or repairing the classic add-in will not restore the button in new Outlook.
Check which Outlook you are using
| Outlook version | Where to create a Teams meeting | What to troubleshoot |
|---|---|---|
| New Outlook for Windows | Calendar > New event > turn on Teams meeting | Account type, account selection, Outlook settings, and service access |
| Outlook on the web | Calendar > New event > turn on Teams meeting | Account type and calendar settings |
| Classic Outlook for Windows | Home > dropdown beside New Email > Meeting > Teams Meeting | The Teams desktop client and Teams Meeting COM add-in |
| Outlook mobile | Calendar > New Event > turn on Teams Meeting | Account and mobile online-meeting settings |
In classic Outlook, you can usually identify the version from File. If the app offers a Try the new Outlook switch, you are using classic Outlook. New Outlook has a different interface and does not support the classic Teams COM add-in.

Before troubleshooting, verify the account
Outlook Teams-meeting scheduling requires a supported Microsoft 365 business Exchange account. It does not work for creating Teams meetings from personal or POP/IMAP accounts such as Outlook.com, Hotmail, MSN, Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud accounts.

- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
- In Outlook, open Settings or File > Account Settings, depending on the version.
- Check that the calendar belongs to your Microsoft 365 work or school account.
- If several accounts are configured, create the event from the supported work account rather than a personal internet-mail calendar.
If the Teams option appears for one account but not another, this account limitation is likely the explanation rather than a broken add-in.
Fix Teams Meeting missing in new Outlook or Outlook on the web
Do not install a COM add-in in new Outlook. Microsoft’s current implementation is native.
- Open Outlook and select Calendar.
- Select New event.
- Turn on the Teams meeting toggle beside the event title.
- Add the attendees and meeting details.
- Select Send.
Teams join details are added after you send the event. Selecting Save as draft can leave a calendar draft without the Teams join information, so a draft is not a reliable test.

Make every new Outlook event a Teams meeting
- In Outlook, select Calendar.
- Open Calendar settings.
- Select Events and invitations.
- Under Events you create, enable Add online meeting to all meetings.
- Under Choose a meeting provider, select Microsoft Teams.
- If Teams is not listed, select the correct work account in the account dropdown.
- Select Save.
These settings are applied at the account level. Selecting the wrong account can make it appear that the Teams provider is unavailable.
Restore the Teams button in classic Outlook
1. Confirm that Teams desktop is installed
The classic Outlook add-in requires the Teams desktop client. The web-only Teams client cannot install this Outlook add-in. Start Teams, sign in with the same Microsoft 365 account used by Outlook, and leave it running while testing Outlook.

- C270’s RightLight 2 feature adjusts to lighting conditions, producing brighter, contrasted images to help you look good in all your conference calls.
- The adjustable universal clip lets you attach the camera securely to your screen or laptop, or fold the clip and set the webcam on a shelf. You’re always ready for your next video call.
2. Enable the disabled add-in
- Close any meeting window in Outlook.
- In Outlook, select File > Options > Add-ins.
- Look for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
- If it appears under Disabled Application Add-ins, select COM Add-ins in the Manage dropdown.
- Select Go, tick the Teams add-in, and select OK.
- Close and restart Outlook.
If the add-in is under Inactive Application Add-ins, use the same Manage > COM Add-ins > Go path and enable it.
3. Restart Teams and Outlook in the correct order
- Sign out of Teams.
- Exit Teams completely from its notification-area icon, if available.
- Close Outlook.
- Start Teams, sign in again, and wait for it to finish loading.
- Start Outlook and check the Home tab for Teams Meeting.
Also check that Outlook is not running as administrator while Teams is running normally. Different privilege levels can prevent Outlook from loading the add-in.
Repair a missing or damaged classic add-in registration
Use this procedure on a Windows PC with classic Outlook 2016 or later and the Teams desktop client. It requires an elevated Command Prompt, so it may need an administrator.
- Exit Teams and Outlook.
- Open File Explorer and enter this path in the address bar:
%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin - Open the highest-numbered version folder, such as
1.0.23334.11. - Open an elevated Command Prompt.
- Run the command matching the bitness of Office, not necessarily the bitness of Windows.
For 64-bit Office:
%SystemRoot%System32regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "<path-to-version-folder>x64Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"
For 32-bit Office:
%SystemRoot%SysWOW64regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "<path-to-version-folder>x86Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"
Replace <path-to-version-folder> with the actual folder path. For example:
%SystemRoot%System32regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin1.0.23334.11x64Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"
- Start Teams and sign in.
- Restart Outlook.
If RegSvr32 reports that the module could not be found, check the version folder and Office bitness. Do not use the x64 path simply because Windows is 64-bit; 32-bit Office on 64-bit Windows needs the x86 add-in path.
Check LoadBehavior if the add-in keeps disabling itself
Outlook can mark an add-in as inactive or disabled after a slow startup or crash. Advanced users or administrators can check its registration:

3. If it has another value, set it to3. - Restart Outlook.
Back up the registry or export the key before changing it. A company policy can overwrite this value, so a recurring change should be handled by your Microsoft 365 administrator rather than repeatedly edited by the user.
Fix the add-in after moving from classic Teams to new Teams
Removing classic Teams can leave the Teams Meeting add-in in a failed migration state. Reinstalling classic Teams is not necessarily the answer.
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Teams Meeting Add-in.
- Note the installed version.
- Use Microsoft’s current Teams Meeting Add-in migration procedure and its matching script:
UninstallOldTMA.ps1for no version result or a version beginning with1.23; useUninstallTMA.ps1for other versions. - After removal, start new Teams and wait for the add-in to reappear under Installed apps.
- Restart Outlook.
PowerShell scripts that remove software should be obtained from Microsoft’s current troubleshooting documentation or your administrator, not copied from an unverified download.
When administrators need to check policy or Exchange
If the button is missing for many users, or if Teams Calendar itself shows Sorry, we couldn’t get your meeting details, the problem may be tenant configuration rather than Outlook.
Check Outlook security policy
Administrators can inspect these policy locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftOffice16.0OutlookSecurity
If Cloud Policy is used, also check:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftCloudOffice16.0OutlookSecurity
Cloud Policy takes precedence over equivalent Group Policy settings on Windows. A policy that blocks programmatic access or requires trusted add-ins can prevent the loader from working. If Configure trusted add-ins is enforced, Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll must be trusted with its current hash; Teams updates can change that DLL and its hash.

Check the user’s Exchange access
The Teams Calendar app needs access to the user’s Exchange mailbox through Exchange Web Services (EWS). An administrator can inspect mailbox settings with:
Get-CasMailbox <UserPrincipalName> | Select-Object Ews*
EwsEnabled must be True or Null. If an organization uses EnforceAllowList, the EWS allow list must include the Teams-related entries Microsoft specifies:
MicrosoftNinja/*
*Teams/*
SkypeSpaces/*
The Teams Calendar app must also be present in the user’s assigned Teams app setup policy. Its app ID is:
ef56c0de-36fc-4ef8-b417-3d82ba9d073c
In the Teams admin center, go to Users > Manage users, select the user, choose View policies, and inspect the assigned App setup policy. The user’s coexistence mode must not be Skype for Business only or Skype for Business with Teams collaboration.
Special cases that look like a missing Teams link
- Delegated calendar: A delegate may be unable to create complete Teams invitations when the delegator’s mailbox is hidden from the Global Address List. An administrator can unhide it with
Set-Mailbox -Identity <delegator’s email address> -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $false, then have the delegate restart Outlook and create a new request. - On-premises Exchange delegation: A delegate may receive a permissions error when scheduling for an on-premises Exchange delegator. This requires Exchange and Teams integration troubleshooting, not simply reinstalling the add-in.
- Recurring meetings: If an attendee was added only to one occurrence, they may not appear in Meeting options as expected. Add them to the meeting series instead.
- Outlook attendee updates: After adding attendees, select Send Update. The web Meeting options view may not show the additional attendees until the update is sent.
Use Teams Calendar as a separate diagnostic
Teams Calendar and the Teams button in classic Outlook are related to Exchange, but they are not the same interface. If Outlook can create a Teams meeting but the Teams Calendar app is empty, check the mailbox, EWS access, app setup policy, and coexistence mode.
Best Value

If Teams Calendar is missing or cannot retrieve meetings, an administrator can run Microsoft’s Teams Calendar App connectivity test in the Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer while signed in as the affected user. This can distinguish a mailbox or Exchange problem from an Outlook add-in problem.
Quick diagnosis
| Symptom | Likely cause | Best next step |
|---|---|---|
| No Teams toggle in new Outlook | Unsupported account or wrong account selected | Use a Microsoft 365 business Exchange account and check account-level calendar settings |
