If YouTube keeps restarting the same item, check whether the player is repeating one video or the whole playlist. On a computer, open the playlist box and click its Loop control; on Android, play the playlist and check that Loop has not been switched to the single-video state. TV and game-console viewers should select Repeat • Playlist, not Repeat • Currently playing. Autoplay is a separate setting and does not control the order of items in your playlist.
First, identify what is restarting
Before changing settings, identify what you are watching and what should happen next. YouTube has separate controls for repeating a single video and repeating an entire playlist.
- Playlist: You expect the next item in a specific list to play. Use the playlist’s Loop or Repeat control.
- Single video: The current video repeats. This is a different loop mode, not playlist continuation.
- Autoplay: YouTube plays a related video after the current one ends. It does not select the next item in a specific playlist.
- Live broadcast: You are watching a stream as it happens. Live playback and its DVR controls are not playlist looping.
- Replay: A live stream has ended and you are watching its recording as a video. If it is in a playlist, use the playlist controls.
Set playlist looping on your device
Computer
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist box beside the video so you can see its items and controls.
- Click the Loop control in the playlist box. This repeats the playlist continuously.
Do not confuse that playlist control with the separate option to right-click a video and choose Loop. That option repeats the current video, so it will not advance through the playlist.

- Start playing the playlist.
- Find and tap Loop in the playlist control box.
- Check the control’s state. Tapping Loop a second time switches to repeating only the current video; a “1” appears on the control. If the same item keeps restarting, tap again to return to playlist looping.
TV or game console
- Start the playlist and open the playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the state reads Repeat • Playlist.
- If the state reads Repeat • Currently playing, change it: that mode repeats one video.
iPhone and iPad
The exact iOS navigation is not established here, so do not assume the Android labels or steps match. Look for the playlist’s Loop control and confirm that its scope is the playlist rather than the current video.

Check Autoplay separately
Autoplay decides whether YouTube plays another related video after the current video ends. It is not the setting that advances through or loops a particular playlist. If the expected next item is in your playlist, set playlist looping from the playlist controls rather than relying on Autoplay. YouTube notes that Autoplay settings can differ between devices.
If the video is live or a replay
Watching a live broadcast
A live broadcast is not an ordinary playlist video. YouTube’s DVR feature lets viewers pause, rewind, and continue during a live stream, but DVR capabilities may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. That limitation concerns live playback; it does not provide a playlist-loop setting.

If an actual live broadcast unexpectedly starts over, the available YouTube Help guidance does not identify a specific repair for that symptom. Avoid treating the playlist Loop instructions as a fix for a live-stream fault.

After a live stream ends, a channel may publish highlights or a replay as videos. If you are watching a replay video within a playlist, use the playlist controls above. If you are still watching a live broadcast, use the live-stream distinction instead.
