A VPS reboot stops the processes that were running in its SSH session or as one-off background jobs. To bring a YouTube playlist stream back, first identify whether the VPS sends an encoder feed to YouTube or plays/pulls a YouTube stream; then configure the command to start under a boot-enabled service, check network readiness and retry behavior, and use the logs to locate the failure. Mumbai is the VPS location, but that fact alone does not establish a regional outage or routing problem.
First identify what the VPS is doing
“YouTube playlist stream” can describe two different setups, and the fix depends on the direction of the video:

Before changing settings, note the exact launch command, process and service name, Linux distribution, client version, failure time, and complete error. If you do not know which setup you have, inspect the command and its arguments or service definition. A reconnect flag for a player will not repair an encoder key error; changing a YouTube stream key will not make an interactive Linux process start after boot.
Make the command start after a reboot
Why an SSH-launched process disappears
A reboot terminates running processes. A command started directly in an SSH shell, a terminal multiplexer, or as a one-off background job does not automatically get recreated when Linux starts again. Use a persistent supervisor—commonly a system service configured to start at boot—rather than relying on the shell session to remain alive.

Configure and verify a service for your actual command
- Record the working command, the Linux account that should run it, required file paths, environment variables, and any secrets. Keep stream keys out of public logs and shared configuration.
- Create or update a service using the service manager for your distribution. The exact unit syntax and security settings depend on your command, account, paths, and operating system; do not copy a generic unit without adapting it.
- Configure the service to start during boot. If appropriate for the application, configure restart behavior for process failures too. A restart policy alone does not enable a service at boot.
- Start the service through the service manager and inspect its status and logs. Confirm that the command runs under the intended account and can read all required files.
- During a controlled maintenance window, reboot the VPS and check whether the service starts and remains healthy. Review logs from that boot rather than assuming that an enabled service is working.
Systemd’s guidance explains service and boot behavior, but the right configuration depends on the VPS’s Linux distribution and service setup: systemd: Special System Units.
Check whether the service starts before the network is usable
A service can start correctly and still fail immediately if it tries to connect before networking is ready. Systemd’s network.target does not mean that the VPS has working internet access. For services that need an external connection during startup, systemd documents network-online.target as a way to order dependent services after the network manager considers networking sufficiently configured. Its effectiveness depends on the VPS’s network manager and a corresponding wait-online service being present and enabled.

- Check which network manager the VPS uses and whether its wait-online integration is active.
- If it is appropriate for the setup, configure the stream service to start after and request
network-online.target. - Prefer application-level retries for temporary DNS, connection, or endpoint failures where the client supports them. Waiting for network readiness can add boot delay and still cannot guarantee YouTube or a DNS endpoint is reachable.
Systemd recommends that well-written software respond to changing network configuration rather than assume a connection is permanently available. See its explanation of network-online.target and network readiness.
If the VPS publishes an encoder feed to YouTube
- Check the service status and application logs for the time of the reboot. Determine whether the encoder never launched, launched and exited, or stayed running but failed to connect.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and check the stream’s status or health for an encoder or connection error.
- If a third-party encoder reports a startup error, YouTube Help advises obtaining the current stream key from Live Control Room and updating the encoder. Do this when the error points to a key or startup problem; do not rotate a working key without evidence of a key error.
- If you sign in through third-party streaming software without using a stream key, YouTube directs users to that software’s support for help. Follow the instructions for the specific encoder and integration.

Google’s documentation describes DASH as an HTTP segment-delivery protocol for YouTube live streams, but that does not show that a particular VPS stream uses DASH; only investigate protocol-specific settings if your encoder integration documents them: YouTube Live Streaming API: DASH ingestion.

If the VPS pulls or plays a YouTube stream
Check the installed player or extractor version, the source URL or playlist behavior, and the application logs. A client-side reconnect option can help with a dropped connection only if the client and its player are able to reopen the stream. It does not configure boot startup or guarantee that YouTube will accept an encoder connection.
Streamlink and continuous HTTP playback
Streamlink documents --player-continuous-http for repeatedly opening a stream when a compatible player requests it. Whether it helps depends on the installed Streamlink version, the chosen player, and whether that player can reconnect to HTTP and repeat playback. Check the current Streamlink CLI option documentation and your player’s compatibility before adding the option.

Streamlink’s player documentation notes a narrower compatibility issue: VLC versions below 3 cannot play YouTube Live streams. That is a player-version issue, not a general fix for playlist playback or boot startup. See Streamlink player documentation.

- Service not enabled or command not found: verify boot enablement, executable paths, working directory, account, and required files.
- Service starts before networking is ready: check the network manager’s wait-online integration and whether the client retries transient connection failures.
- Process starts and exits: use the application’s error output to investigate invalid arguments, missing dependencies, permissions, unavailable files, or source-specific errors.
- Client stays running but cannot reconnect: inspect DNS and connection errors, source availability, and the client/player’s reconnect behavior.
- YouTube reports an encoder or stream-health error: follow the message in Live Control Room and the relevant encoder guidance; investigate the stream key only when the evidence points to it.
The title alone does not identify the VPS provider, Linux distribution, command, client, service configuration, or error. Without those details and the relevant logs, no single cause can be confirmed. The available guidance also does not establish a Mumbai-specific outage, routing fault, or regional restriction.
