Five alternatives named in a September 2026 SlashGear roundup are the Sony Bravia 9, TCL QM6K, Hisense U8QG, Sony Bravia 7, and Hisense U7SG. They do not amount to a proven ranking: the roundup offers no common scoring rubric or controlled comparisons. The best fit depends on your budget, room, gaming needs, preferred smart-TV platform, and the exact size and regional model available.

How to read this list

The five models below were selected from QLED televisions using review expertise, outside reviews, and availability, according to SlashGear. That is a useful shortlist, not a like-for-like test. The models differ in price, size, features, and likely use case, so a single brightness or refresh-rate figure cannot establish which has the best picture. The specifications and prices in the roundup have not been independently confirmed here; check the exact regional model and current listing before buying.

Which of the five TVs fits your needs?

Sony Bravia 9: a premium 65-inch option

The Bravia 9 is described as Sony’s 2024 flagship. The roundup lists Google TV, Google Cast, AirPlay 2, four HDMI ports, and two HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K at 120 Hz. It reports a $3,000 launch MSRP for the 65-inch version; that is a launch price, not a current quote. The article cites favorable assessments from RTINGS and Digital Trends on brightness, contrast, color, HDR, and motion, but does not provide comparable measurements across all five sets.

Consider it if you want Sony’s premium model and its Google TV and casting features. Confirm the size and port configuration for the specific regional SKU, and compare its current price with less expensive alternatives before treating it as the upgrade worth paying for.

TCL QM6K: a value-oriented starting point

The roundup characterizes the QM6K as an entry-level model in TCL’s 2025 lineup and reports an $800 starting price. It lists a 4K QLED panel with refresh rates up to 144 Hz, two HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K/144 Hz, VRR, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, Google TV, AirPlay 2, and Google Cast. The article cites RTINGS, Digital Trends, and CNET for favorable comments on its overall package and value.

This is the clearest budget-oriented candidate in the five-model list, but the reported starting price may not correspond to the size or version you want. Check the size-specific listing and confirm how its high-refresh-rate and HDMI features work with your gaming devices.

Hisense U8QG: a bright-room candidate

The roundup reports a starting price of $999.99 for the 55-inch U8QG, along with a claimed peak brightness of 5,000 nits and 6,000 local dimming zones. It also lists a 165 Hz native refresh rate, anti-glare coating, Wi-Fi 6E, Google TV, and Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG support. These figures are claims reported by the article, not independently verified measurements. The article cites PCMag favorably.

Its listed anti-glare coating and brightness make it a model to investigate for a bright room, but a peak figure alone does not tell you how the TV handles reflections, sustained brightness, or dark scenes in your room. Look for testing of those conditions and verify the model’s exact specifications before purchase.

Sony Bravia 7: a lower-priced Sony alternative

The article reports a $1,398 Amazon price for a 55-inch Bravia 7 at the time it was written. That is a time-specific retailer price, not a current or guaranteed offer. Its listed features include 4K resolution, 120 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, Google TV, two HDMI 2.1 ports supporting 4K/120 Hz, VRR, and ALLM. RTINGS is cited for mixed-use performance.

It may suit someone who wants a Sony set with current gaming features but does not need the Bravia 9. Because the cited performance assessment is mixed and the price can change, compare current reviews and listings for your screen size rather than assuming the Bravia name alone makes it the better choice.

The listed four HDMI 2.1 ports and high refresh rate make it worth checking if you connect several gaming devices. Confirm the exact port capabilities and supported refresh rates for the regional model; a maximum rate does not by itself establish picture quality or performance in every mode.

All entries above reflect the roundup’s claims, not fresh manufacturer or retailer verification. Prices have different bases—launch MSRP, starting price, starting list price, or a retailer price observed at publication—so they are not directly comparable as current offers. The roundup does not state the QM6K’s starting size or the U7SG’s smart-TV platform; check the listing and manufacturer specifications for the exact SKU you are considering.

What to verify before choosing

  • Exact size and regional model: Product names can cover multiple sizes or regional versions. Confirm the full model number and the specifications for that version.
  • Gaming connection: Check the number of HDMI 2.1 ports you need, the resolution and refresh rate supported on each, and whether VRR and ALLM are supported in the modes you plan to use.
  • Room conditions: For a bright room, look beyond a peak-brightness claim to reflection handling and tested performance. For dark viewing, seek comparable evidence on contrast and local dimming rather than relying on zone counts alone.
  • HDR and smart-TV preferences: Confirm the HDR formats and operating system on the exact set. Google TV and casting features are listed for several of these models, but the roundup does not establish a platform for every model.
  • Current price and stock: The listed amounts are publication-era figures with different price definitions. Check a current retailer listing for the size you want and confirm that the item is available in your region.
