Google’s documented browser-casting method uses Chrome, not Firefox. To send a Firefox page to Chromecast, open the same page in an updated Chrome browser and use Chrome’s Cast menu. If the video or audio site has its own Cast button, use that instead when available: it sends supported media directly to the receiver rather than mirroring a browser tab.
Can you cast Firefox to Chromecast?
Google’s current browser-casting instructions explain how to cast from Chrome and do not provide a Firefox workflow. That means the documented option is to open the content in Chrome; the available sources do not establish that Firefox casting is categorically impossible or confirm a current official Firefox add-on.
A website’s own Cast control is a separate option. When a site supports it, the service can send compatible media directly to the receiver, so you do not need to project the Firefox tab. See Google’s Chromecast streaming guidance for the distinction between direct playback and tab projection.
How to cast the page using Chrome
-
Open the same page in an updated version of Chrome. Google requires an updated Chrome browser for its documented casting procedure.

Google lists Chromecast, Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast Ultra, Google TV Streamer (4K), and TVs with Google Cast as compatible receiver types for Chrome casting. Its requirements guidance covers Chrome OS, Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux; performance and tab-video quality depend on the computer and Wi-Fi connection. See Google’s setup and casting instructions and Google’s system requirements.
Use a site’s Cast button when available
For a supported video or audio service, look in the site’s player for its Cast button. This is direct playback: the receiver streams supported media from the service, rather than displaying a live projection of the browser tab. It can therefore work without casting the Firefox window itself.
Google says direct playback generally offers higher quality, uses less of the computer’s power, and may continue if the computer is shut down or its lid is closed. Availability and results depend on the site, content, receiver, and other equipment.
