FastestVPN may be worth considering if low cost, router support and a conventional set of VPN features matter more to you than top-tier speed or the strongest available privacy assurances. Independent reviews have reported weak performance, while the available audit evidence is dated and limited in detail. Check the current checkout terms and weigh those trade-offs against your own needs before committing.
What FastestVPN offers
FastestVPN is a consumer VPN service. Its feature page describes apps and support for Windows, Android, iOS, Mac, Xbox, Fire TV and routers, along with WireGuard, OpenVPN, IKEv2, IPSec, OpenConnect and L2TP. It also lists a kill switch, DNS leak protection, ad blocking, a NAT firewall, P2P-optimized servers, unlimited bandwidth and up to 10 simultaneous device connections. These are vendor-described features; availability and behavior can vary by platform, so check the current app and plan details for the devices you use.
FastestVPN advertises a 31-day refund policy. That headline does not establish which purchases qualify or what exclusions apply. Read the current terms for your region and plan before buying.
Router support needs a model-specific check
The company says its service works on routers and can protect devices across more than 20 platforms. That does not confirm compatibility with every router, firmware version or setup method. If you want VPN protection for devices that cannot run a VPN app, confirm the exact router model and firmware are supported and that setup instructions match your configuration before purchasing.

How strong are FastestVPN’s privacy and security assurances?
The evidence points to a mixed picture: there are reported protections against common IP and DNS leaks, but concerns remain about policy clarity, audit transparency and a security weakness identified in independent testing.
No-logs claim and audit
FastestVPN’s no-logs claim is accompanied by a vendor-published report from Altius IT dated January 2023. The report discusses a review of the policy and service, and discloses operational and third-party tools including Tawk.to for chat, BugSnag for error reporting, Firebase for app analytics, Facebook Pixel and Google Analytics. The presence of analytics or support tools does not, by itself, show that VPN browsing activity is logged; it does mean that account, diagnostic, analytics and operational data should be considered separately from browsing records.

RTINGS’ review, published May 13, 2026 and updated to Test Bench 0.11 on July 13, 2026, describes the 2023 report as the only independent privacy audit it found and criticizes its sparse findings and limited methodological detail. RTINGS also reports collection and sharing of app analytics, diagnostic data and usage telemetry, and characterizes the privacy policy as vague. Readers seeking strong assurance should examine the policy and audit scope rather than treating “no logs” as a complete description of all data handling.
Leak protection, kill switch and a reported weakness
RTINGS reports that its testing found functional IP and DNS leak protection and a kill switch that blocks unencrypted traffic after a connection loss or reboot. The same review reports poor protection against man-in-the-middle attacks, relating the weakness to TLS verification and BGP implementation. These are RTINGS’ dated test findings, not results from testing conducted for this article; they suggest that routine leak protections and resistance to more complex network attacks should not be treated as interchangeable.

Security.org’s September 10, 2026 review also reports a kill switch, split tunneling on Android and Windows, double VPN, Netflix access and torrenting support. It counted more than 800 servers in 50 countries and over 100 locations at the time of its review. Those are time-sensitive third-party findings, not guarantees of current server reach, feature availability or access to any particular streaming catalog.
What do independent reviews say about speed?
RTINGS reports very slow download and upload speeds in its testing and says its performance testing was continuing. TechRadar’s September 11, 2026 review likewise says FastestVPN remains behind leading VPNs in performance, although it describes the service as more capable than before. The findings support a cautious assessment rather than a universal speed prediction: actual results depend on factors such as protocol, server, location, device and network conditions.

Do not interpret an advertised 10 Gbps server capacity as the speed an individual subscriber will achieve. Server-port capacity describes infrastructure, not a measured client connection. If speed is important, compare independent results that use comparable protocols, locations, baselines, devices and methods—or test the service promptly after purchase while you remain eligible for any applicable refund.

Before paying, inspect checkout for your country and record the price, billing period, renewal amount and date, currency and tax, any bundle inclusions, and refund exclusions. Compare the total cost over the period you expect to use the VPN; a low initial payment is not enough to establish long-term value if renewal terms differ or a one-time plan’s conditions are unclear.
Who should consider FastestVPN?
It may fit a budget-conscious, less speed-sensitive user
FastestVPN may suit someone prioritizing a low current price, router support, multiple device connections or P2P-capable servers who accepts the performance and assurance trade-offs. TechRadar’s review frames it as a possible option for casual users willing to compromise on performance for a low price. Confirm that the features you need are included on your platform and that the checkout terms make sense for your expected use.
Look elsewhere if assurance or speed is the priority
A privacy-first buyer should give greater weight to the age, scope, method and public detail of independent audits, as well as exact policy language about analytics and diagnostics. A speed-sensitive buyer should prioritize comparable independent measurements. If you rely on router coverage or a particular streaming service, verify that exact device setup or service access rather than assuming general support will meet your requirement.
A practical way to compare it with another VPN
Compare like with like instead of relying on one overall score. Give the most weight to the factor that matters most in your use case:
