Fairphone 6 Plus is the name used in some coverage for the phone Fairphone officially lists as the Fairphone (Gen. 6+). Its clearest advantage is practical longevity: Fairphone says it has 12 replaceable parts and promises software support through 2033. The trade-off is that reviewers place its performance in the mid-range, and its camera and battery are not compelling reasons to choose it over category leaders. It makes the most sense if repair access and keeping a phone longer matter more to you than flagship speed or imaging.
What is the Fairphone (Gen. 6+)?
Fairphone’s official name is Fairphone (Gen. 6+), while TechRadar calls it the Fairphone 6 Plus. This review uses both names to make the product easier to identify in official listings and third-party coverage. The Plus-generation model is built around replaceable modules and a long support commitment, rather than leading specifications in every category.
Fairphone lists 8GB or 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage expandable to 2TB, and a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display. Its official camera setup is a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide camera, and 32MP front camera. The battery is rated at 4,415mAh. See Fairphone’s official product page for the manufacturer’s full specification list.
For its reviewed configuration, TechRadar reports a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. It describes a 6.31-inch, 1,116 × 2,484-pixel display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,400-nit maximum brightness. Those are the reviewer’s listed specifications; Fairphone’s page is the reference for official manufacturer specifications.

Is repairability the Fairphone’s strongest reason to buy?
Yes. Fairphone says the Gen. 6+ has 12 replaceable parts and that a Torx T5 screwdriver is used to open the device. The company’s product page puts it this way: “A single Torx T5 screwdriver tool opens up your device in minutes.” That is Fairphone’s claim about the repair process; it is not an independent estimate of how long every repair takes or how difficult each repair will be.
Fairphone also publishes prices for selected replacement modules. Its 2026 product page lists these webshop prices, excluding shipping:
| Replaceable part | Fairphone price | Fairphone’s estimated industry average |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | €39.95 | About €85 |
| Display | €89.95 | About €280 |
| Main camera | €69.95 | About €240 |
| Ultra-wide camera | €44.95 | About €170 |
| USB-C port | €19.95 | About €120 |
The comparison figures are Fairphone’s estimates, based on official repair quotes for three flagship-brand competitors from July 2025; they are not an independent market-wide study. Prices vary by region and can change, so check the current Fairphone product and parts information for your country before budgeting for a repair.

Replaceable parts make repair a more direct option when a covered component fails, but they do not establish the phone’s total cost of ownership. The evidence here does not provide an independently verified lifecycle-cost comparison, nor does modular construction by itself prove how many years a particular owner will keep the phone.

How long will it receive software support?
Fairphone says the Gen. 6+ will receive six years of Android upgrades, followed by one additional year of security updates. Its support page describes coverage through 2033. These are manufacturer commitments, not evidence that every device will remain in service until then, and the two parts of the commitment are different: Android upgrades end before the final security-update year.
Check Fairphone’s software support lifecycle page for the current roadmap. A long update window is particularly relevant if you plan to keep a phone for years; it is less valuable if you replace devices frequently.

Is performance good enough for everyday use and gaming?
For ordinary tasks, reviews describe adequate mid-range performance, not flagship responsiveness. TechRadar found it suitable for most everyday use but noted that it lagged older flagship phones and that some games caused occasional strain. IT Pro’s assessment of general performance was more positive, though neither review positions the phone as a high-end gaming device.
If your routine is messaging, browsing, video, and common apps, the reviewed Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 configuration should be considered in that mid-range context. If you regularly play demanding games and expect consistently high performance, the reviews give little reason to choose this phone over a device designed around speed.
How good are the cameras?
The official hardware consists of a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultra-wide camera, and 32MP front camera. Those megapixel counts describe the sensors’ nominal resolutions; they do not, on their own, tell you how the phone performs in varied lighting or how its images compare with camera-focused phones.

- Clear Protective Case Compatible with Fairphone 6 (Fairphone Gen. 6) and Fairphone 6+ (Fairphone Gen. 6+)
- Exact fit and precise cutouts enable easy access to the buttons, port, camera and speaker etc
- Crystal clear cover preserves the original design of the Fairphone 6/6+
- Shock-absorbing TPU case with raised edges protects the phone from bumps and scratches
- Flexible and durable material. Easy to put on/take off for any purpose
TechRadar calls the camera experience adequate for average use but not particularly accomplished. That makes the cameras a reasonable fit for routine photos and video calls, rather than a strong argument for buying the phone if imaging quality is your top priority. The reviewer’s assessment is an observed review impression, not a controlled comparison across all phones.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How long does the battery last, and how fast does it charge?
Fairphone specifies a 4,415mAh battery. TechRadar’s 2026 review describes about a day of average use and reports 30W wired charging; it also says the phone does not support wireless or reverse charging. “About a day” is a reviewer’s use-based observation, not a guaranteed runtime for every workload.
IT Pro reports 15 hours and 45 minutes in a looped video test. That result comes from a specific playback test, so it should not be treated as equivalent to TechRadar’s average-use estimate. Screen settings, signal conditions, apps, and workload can all affect day-to-day endurance.

How much does the Fairphone 6 Plus cost, and where is it available?
Fairphone’s US shop lists the Fairphone (Gen. 6+) at $649.99. That is a US list price, not a universal price; availability, stock, and pricing differ by country and can change. Check the Fairphone US listing for current US availability and price.
At that price, the case for paying more than you might for a conventional mid-range phone depends on whether repair access and the support commitment are useful to you. There is no independently verified total-cost-of-ownership calculation here to prove that parts savings will offset the upfront price.
Quick Recap
Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?
Consider it if
- You want a phone with replaceable parts and a published repair-parts catalogue.
- You expect to keep a phone for a long time and value Fairphone’s stated support roadmap through 2033.
- You are comfortable with mid-range performance and average-use camera capability in exchange for repair-oriented design.
Look elsewhere if
- Your priorities are top-tier mobile gaming performance or best-in-class photography.
- You mainly want the lowest upfront price and do not expect to use the repair or extended-support benefits.
- You prefer another repair-minded option: TechRadar identifies the standard Fairphone 6 as a cheaper, closely related alternative, and mentions the HMD Fusion. Its review describes the HMD as older and no longer receiving updates; check current support status and local availability before comparing either phone.
