Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo refresh a Facebook link preview, submit the exact page URL to Facebook’s Sharing Debugger, inspect the Open Graph values Facebook scraped, correct the page’s metadata, and submit the same URL again. If the interface offers Scrape Again, use it after publishing the fix. This requests a new fetch; it does not guarantee that every existing post will change immediately.
What the Facebook Open Graph Debugger checks
The Facebook Sharing Debugger (also described in the Open Graph protocol reference as the Facebook Object Debugger) parses the metadata in a page’s <head>. It shows the values Facebook found, warnings associated with the page, and the preview those values can produce. A June 2026 guide describes this workflow, but Meta’s live labels, sign-in requirements, and availability can change.
The debugger is not an editor. It cannot permanently repair a page or replace incorrect tags. It helps you see what a crawler received so you can fix the source in your CMS, template, or application.
Open Graph fields that control the preview
The protocol defines four basic properties for an object:

| Property | Purpose | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
og:title |
The title shown for the shared object. | It is the intended title, not a site-wide default or an old value. |
og:type |
Identifies the object type. | The value matches the page, such as an article or website. |
og:image |
Supplies the main preview image. | The URL is the intended asset and is publicly fetchable. |
og:url |
Defines the object’s permanent, canonical identifier in the graph. | It points to the canonical version of the page, including the correct protocol and host. |
og:description is optional but generally recommended. Image metadata can also include og:image:type, og:image:width, og:image:height, og:image:secure_url, and og:image:alt. The protocol says that a page specifying og:image should also specify og:image:alt.
When the same property appears more than once, the first value from top to bottom is preferred when values conflict. This matters when a plugin inserts one image and your theme inserts another.
Use the debugger to refresh a page preview
- Publish the intended metadata first. Update the title, description, image, type, and canonical URL in your CMS or page template. Clear any application or CDN cache that could still serve the old HTML.
- Open Facebook’s Sharing Debugger. Search for that exact Meta tool rather than a similarly named third-party checker. The current page’s labels and access requirements should be verified in the interface you see.
- Enter the exact URL. Include the same protocol, hostname, path, and meaningful query-string choices that people share. A redirecting URL, a trailing-slash variant, and the final canonical URL can be treated as different inputs during troubleshooting.
- Run the inspection. Review the scraped title, description, image, canonical URL, warnings, and rendered preview. Record what Facebook received, not merely what your browser displays after JavaScript runs.
- Compare the result with the source. View the page source or the server-rendered HTML and locate every
og:property. If the debugger’s value differs from the source you expected, look for duplicate tags, redirects, cache layers, or a template that emits metadata conditionally. - Fix the source and deploy it. Make the change in the system that generates the HTML. Editing an image file alone will not correct an incorrect
og:imageURL, and changing a browser-only title will not change server-delivered metadata. - Submit the same URL again. If the current interface shows Scrape Again, select it after the fix is live. Check the returned fields again and save the result for your deployment record.
Do not promise an instant change to old posts. A refreshed scrape updates what Facebook can retrieve for that URL; an already-published share may continue displaying a previously generated card until Facebook uses the new object data.
What a correct page head looks like
A minimal server-rendered head might look like this:

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Rank #2
<meta property='og:title' content='Example product guide'>
<meta property='og:type' content='article'>
<meta property='og:url' content='https://example.com/guides/product'>
<meta property='og:image' content='https://example.com/images/product-card.jpg'>
<meta property='og:image:alt' content='A product dashboard on a laptop'>
<meta property='og:description' content='A practical guide to configuring the product.'>
Use absolute URLs for the canonical page and image. Keep one authoritative value for each property. If a framework, SEO plugin, social-sharing plugin, and theme all emit tags, disable the redundant emitters instead of hoping the debugger chooses the last one.
Diagnose the most common wrong previews
The title or description is old
First check the debugger’s scraped text against the raw HTML returned by the URL. If the raw HTML is old, a page cache, CDN, reverse proxy, or CMS publication step is serving stale markup. Purge that layer, confirm the new response without relying on a browser cache, and run the debugger again. If the raw HTML is new but the debugger still reports the old value, request another scrape and treat the result as crawler-side cached data until a later fetch reflects the change.
The wrong image appears
Inspect every og:image tag in document order. Because the first repeated value is preferred, an earlier plugin-generated image can override the one you intended. Remove the conflict and leave one clear tag. Then verify that the image URL is public, returns an image response, and does not require a session cookie, JavaScript execution, or an authorization header. Check dimensions, MIME type, redirects, and whether a firewall treats automated fetches differently from your browser.
The preview is blank or has no image
Open the image URL directly from a network that is not authenticated to your site. A slow asset, a blocked crawler, a hotlink rule, an expired signed URL, or an image request that depends on client-side code can prevent retrieval. Replace temporary or access-controlled URLs with a stable public asset, then request a fresh scrape.
Rank #3
The debugger reports a 403
A 403 means the request was refused somewhere between the debugger and your site. Review web-application-firewall rules, bot protection, IP allowlists, authentication middleware, country restrictions, and server rules that block unknown user agents. Check both the document URL and its image URL. Do not disable security globally; create the narrowest exception that permits legitimate social crawlers, and confirm that normal visitors remain protected. If the 403 is from the debugger service itself, verify that you are using the official Meta tool and that your account or session meets its current access requirements.
The canonical URL does not match the shared URL
Compare og:url with the URL you submitted, the HTTP redirect chain, and any HTML canonical link. Decide which URL should represent the object, then use that value consistently in campaigns and sharing buttons. A tracking or parameterized URL can legitimately lead to a canonical URL, but inconsistent values make it harder to determine which object Facebook is refreshing.
JavaScript changes the title after load
Social crawlers commonly rely on the HTML response and may not reproduce every browser-side mutation. Put essential Open Graph tags in server-rendered markup. If your application generates them only after hydration, add them to the server template or framework metadata API and inspect the delivered source, not only the Elements panel in a browser.
Check the result without guessing
- View the raw response and search for
og:title,og:type,og:url,og:image, andog:description. - Confirm that the submitted URL does not redirect to a login page, error page, or different locale.
- Open the image URL independently and verify that it remains available without cookies.
- Search the complete HTML for duplicate properties and inspect their order.
- After deployment, run the debugger again and compare each returned value with the intended source.
Keep a small deployment note containing the URL, old value, new value, and scrape result. That makes regressions caused by a theme or SEO-plugin update easier to identify.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to automate a visual check of the page after changing its Open Graph tags, ScreenshotNeo can capture the page with one HTTP request. It is a screenshot API and MCP server, so it does not replace Facebook’s metadata parser; use the debugger for scraped tag values and ScreenshotNeo for a repeatable visual capture of the page itself. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page and billing result in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. An MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for authentication and options. The following request captures the ScreenshotNeo home page; replace only the url value with your page:
curl -G 'https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot' -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://screenshotneo.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get('https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot', params={'access_key': 'YOUR_API_KEY', 'url': 'https://screenshotneo.com'}, timeout=90)
open('shot.webp', 'wb').write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://screenshotneo.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo supports full-page captures with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element captures, dark mode, device presets and custom viewports, retina scale, custom CSS and JavaScript, click-before-capture actions, selector hiding, selector or network-idle waits, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, selectable cache TTLs, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Its parameter names are compatible with those used by many screenshot APIs.
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots; every feature is included on every plan, and yearly billing gives two months free. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account to start without a card.

FAQ
Does changing the HTML update an old Facebook post?
Not necessarily. The debugger can request a new scrape for the URL, but an existing post may retain the card Facebook generated earlier.
Best Value
Should I add several og:image tags for different audiences?
You can provide multiple values, but conflicting values are risky because the first repeated property is preferred. Use a deliberate order and verify the resulting scrape.
Is the debugger a substitute for testing the page source?
No. It reports what the crawler received. Always inspect the deployed HTML and test the image URL independently before treating the preview as fixed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I force Facebook to refresh a link preview immediately?
You can submit the exact URL again and choose “Scrape Again” when that control is available, but Meta does not guarantee an immediate change to every previously published share.
Recommended Free Tools
Why does Facebook show a different image than my website?
Check for duplicate og:image tags, because the first value is preferred, and verify that the selected image URL is publicly fetchable without authentication or client-side code.
What should I do when the debugger returns 403?
Determine whether your firewall, bot protection, authentication layer, or the debugger service generated the refusal. Review the document and image requests, then apply the narrowest access correction and scrape again.
