Samsung has reportedly started front-end wafer production of the Exynos 2700, but that does not mean finished processors are shipping—or that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use one. The Elec reported on October 2, 2026, that the Ultra’s final Exynos allocation had not been decided. The reported production and performance details remain unconfirmed by Samsung’s official materials reviewed here.
Has Samsung started making the Exynos 2700?
According to The Elec’s October 2, 2026 report, Samsung Electronics has begun full-scale front-end wafer production of its Exynos 2700 mobile application processor. Samsung’s official processor catalog does not list the Exynos 2700, so the production claim should be treated as reporting, not a Samsung announcement.
“Mass production” in this report means that wafer fabrication has entered front-end production. It does not mean finished processors are already available to phone makers or consumers. The Elec says testing is outsourced to OSAT providers and packaging is done in-house, and describes a typical three-to-four-month interval from wafer entry to finished product. That is a reported manufacturing timeline, not a confirmed launch date for a phone.

Why reported volume is increasing
The Elec says the planned Exynos 2700 production volume is more than 10% above the target set for the Exynos 2600. It attributes the increase to the addition of a Galaxy S27 Pro model: the reported volume plan covers the S27, S27+, and S27 Pro, while the Ultra allocation remains unsettled.

Will the Galaxy S27 Ultra use Exynos or Snapdragon?
There is no confirmed answer. The Elec says Samsung’s System LSI business wants Exynos in the Ultra to support earnings and demonstrate the technology, but Samsung’s MX division has final say on handset selection. According to the report, MX is weighing performance and thermal validation, pricing against Qualcomm, and Samsung Foundry’s capacity for its SF2P process.
The Elec expects Exynos 2700 in the S27, S27+, and S27 Pro in Korea and Europe, and Snapdragon 8 Elite 6th-generation chips in the US, China, and other markets. These are reported expectations, not final regional specifications or a confirmed S27 lineup.

Why reports about the Ultra conflict
On September 1, 2026, MoneyToday reported that Samsung had ordered S27 Ultra mainboards with Exynos 2700 while developing Snapdragon-equipped models in parallel. That report suggested Exynos could appear in select countries, such as South Korea. A mainboard development order indicates work on a configuration; it does not establish what will ship. The later October 2 Elec report says the Ultra’s adoption ratio was still undecided. The two reports therefore describe different stages or understandings of the decision; the later account does not prove the earlier development report was false.

That is useful precedent for regional variation, but it does not confirm the S27 Ultra’s chip.

Is the Exynos 2700 faster than Snapdragon?
Not on the basis of independently verified public tests. The Elec reports that an internal Geekbench 6 test put the Exynos 2700’s multi-core performance 9.5% above Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme 6th-generation chip. It cites 12,856 as the Snapdragon multi-core score and estimates an Exynos score above 14,000 from that comparison. The Exynos figure is an estimate based on the reported internal claim, not a published, independently reproduced result. The article also says Exynos single-core performance is estimated to trail.
The Elec further reports that the Exynos 2700 uses Samsung Foundry’s SF2P process and gives claimed SF2P improvements over SF2 of 12% in performance, 25% lower power consumption, and 8% smaller chip area. These are process-level comparative claims in the report, not measurements of a completed S27 Ultra. They do not establish how an Exynos-powered retail phone would perform under sustained workloads or compare thermally with a Snapdragon model.

Why one benchmark cannot settle the phone comparison
A smartphone processor, or system-on-chip, combines components such as the CPU, GPU, image signal processor, neural processing unit, and modem. Samsung’s processor FAQ explains this broader role. A multi-core CPU score covers only one part of the experience; graphics, camera processing, connectivity, power use, heat, and sustained performance also matter. No retail-device testing is available in the cited reports to compare those factors for the S27 Ultra.
