The Apple A16 Bionic leads the published Geekbench 6 CPU comparisons and most of the listed GPU tests, but the figures come from separate datasets—not a controlled, same-phone test. The Exynos 2200 has an eight-core CPU and an AMD RDNA 2-based GPU; the A16 has a six-core CPU. Which chip feels faster in a particular phone also depends on the handset, cooling, software and workload.

Exynos 2200 vs A16 Bionic at a glance

Specification Samsung Exynos 2200 Apple A16 Bionic
CPU configuration Eight cores: one Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 (Samsung) Six cores: two high-performance and four efficiency cores (comparison sources)
Peak CPU clock 2.80 GHz (NanoReview) 3.46 GHz (NanoReview)
Process node 4 nm (Samsung) 4 nm (NanoReview)
GPU Xclipse 920, based on AMD RDNA 2 (Samsung and NanoReview) Apple GPU; five-core configuration in CPU-Monkey’s example
GPU clock 1,306 MHz (NanoReview) 1,398 MHz (NanoReview)
Release period Q1 2022 (CPU-Monkey) Q3 2022 (CPU-Monkey)

Specifications are not performance results. Core counts, clock rates and process-node labels alone do not establish which phone will be faster or more efficient; implementation and workload matter.

Which is faster in CPU benchmarks?

The A16 leads both published Geekbench 6 comparison snapshots. These are site aggregates gathered under different conditions, not two chips tested in one controlled setup. NanoReview displayed 25 tests per chip in its Geekbench 6 section; CPU-Monkey’s page, updated August 4, 2026, showed 1,989 single-core and 1,927 multi-core entries for its comparison.

Geekbench 6 source Exynos 2200 single-core A16 single-core Exynos 2200 multi-core A16 multi-core
NanoReview, 2026 access snapshot; 25 tests per chip displayed 1,588 2,631 3,958 6,602
CPU-Monkey, page updated 2026-08-04; 1,989 single-core and 1,927 multi-core entries displayed 1,428 2,531 3,528 6,299

Both datasets point in the same direction: the A16 scores higher in single-core and multi-core Geekbench 6. The disagreement in the absolute figures is a reminder that published averages are snapshots, not fixed properties of every device using a chip.

How do their GPUs compare?

The A16 scores higher in the listed NanoReview Solar Bay and Wild Life Extreme results, and in CPU-Monkey’s FP32 aggregate. These tests measure different things and should not be combined into a prediction of frame rates across games or phones.

Test and source Exynos 2200 A16 Bionic
3DMark Solar Bay score (NanoReview, 2026 access snapshot) 3,972; 66% displayed stability; 15 fps 4,266; 74% displayed stability; 16 fps
3DMark Wild Life Extreme score (NanoReview, 2026 access snapshot) 1,918; 64% displayed stability; 11 fps 3,335; 71% displayed stability; 19 fps
FP32 iGPU aggregate (CPU-Monkey) 1,422 GFLOPS (Xclipse 920) 1,789 GFLOPS (five-core A16 GPU example)

NanoReview also lists Geekbench 6 Compute scores of 10,088 for Exynos and 22,851 for A16, but its comparison uses Vulkan for Exynos and Metal/OpenCL for A16. Because the APIs differ, those scores are not a direct, like-for-like comparison.

Why the AnTuTu scores need extra caution

AnTuTu’s totals vary by version, and NanoReview warns that Android and iOS results are not directly comparable. Treat the figures below as separate published aggregates, not proof of a universal performance gap.

Benchmark version and source Exynos 2200 A16 Bionic Important qualification
AnTuTu 11 (NanoReview, 2026 access snapshot) 1,434,169; 52 tests 1,626,008; 36 tests NanoReview says Android and iOS results are not directly comparable.
AnTuTu 10 (CPU-Monkey) 1,128,320 average 1,394,590 average Separate site averages; not directly interchangeable with AnTuTu 11.
AnTuTu 9 (CPU-Monkey) 917,364 average 947,502 average Separate site averages; not directly interchangeable with AnTuTu 10 or 11.

Do not calculate a single all-purpose lead from these rows. Benchmark version, operating-system implementation, handset, thermal conditions and sample pool can all affect the result.

What the chip designs and capabilities mean

CPU and process

Samsung describes the Exynos 2200 as a 4 nm, octa-core chip with a tri-cluster CPU: one Arm Cortex-X2, three Cortex-A710 and four Cortex-A510 cores. NanoReview lists the A16 at 4 nm with two high-performance and four efficiency cores; CPU-Monkey reports the same six-core grouping. Those A16 specifications come from comparison sources in this comparison, rather than independently verified Apple product documentation.

Graphics

Samsung says the Exynos 2200’s Xclipse GPU is based on AMD RDNA 2 and supports hardware ray tracing and variable rate shading. NanoReview identifies it as the Xclipse 920 and lists RDNA 2 architecture. It identifies the A16 GPU as Apple Bionic GPU. Different GPU architectures, drivers and game implementations mean nominal GPU clocks—1,306 MHz for Exynos and 1,398 MHz for A16 in NanoReview’s listings—cannot determine real game performance on their own.

Imaging, video, display and modem

Samsung’s product documentation lists these Exynos 2200 platform capabilities. They are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee that every handset using the chip implements them:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Integrated 5G modem supporting sub-6GHz and mmWave, with a claimed maximum downlink of 10 Gbps in EN-DC mode and 3GPP Release 16.
  • Image sensors up to 200 MP, zero shutter lag at 108 MP, support for up to seven connected cameras and four concurrent cameras.
  • 8K recording at 30 fps; decoding of 8K at 60 fps and 4K at 240 fps; HDR10+; and display refresh rates up to 144 Hz.
  • AV1 video decoding and an embedded Secure Element.

Samsung also describes AMIGO technology as monitoring major components and adjusting operating settings. That is a manufacturer description, not independent evidence of a particular battery-life or sustained-performance advantage. NanoReview lists the A16 with a 17-TOPS Apple Neural Engine, LPDDR5 support and 4K video capture at 60 fps; these details are attributed to that comparison source.

What benchmark scores can—and cannot—tell you

Benchmarks help compare particular workloads, but they do not guarantee an identical result in two phones. Cooling, software, display resolution, handset design and regional chip configuration affect real-world behavior. The figures here do not establish matched-device battery life, sustained performance or gaming frame rates.

  • For CPU comparisons, use the same benchmark version and note the sample pool; the two Geekbench 6 snapshots both favor A16.
  • For graphics, weigh the specific test and its stability or frame-rate data rather than assuming every game behaves the same way.
  • For cross-platform AnTuTu or Compute comparisons, check the source’s compatibility caveats before interpreting the numerical gap.

Verdict: Exynos 2200 or A16 Bionic?

If the question is which chip leads the cited CPU benchmarks, the available Geekbench 6 aggregates favor the A16 Bionic. The cited GPU comparisons also favor A16 in Solar Bay, Wild Life Extreme and FP32, while the Exynos 2200 offers documented platform features such as ray tracing support, high-resolution imaging and broad video capabilities. For choosing a phone, these chip-level snapshots are not a substitute for testing the exact handset and workload.
