Mike Doogue’s first 100 days as Allegro MicroSystems’ president and CEO centered on protecting the company’s independence, extending its automotive strength and targeting faster growth in power and sensing markets. In an interview published by EE Times on June 18, 2025, Doogue discussed the company’s financial position, recent design wins and opportunities in electric vehicles, data centers, clean energy, robotics and industrial automation.
What happened in Doogue’s first 100 days
Doogue became Allegro’s CEO in February 2025 after a career that began with the company as a chip designer following his 1998 Dartmouth graduation. He later served in technology and operating leadership roles, including chief technology officer. That internal experience gives him a detailed view of Allegro’s sensor and power-chip portfolio as he sets priorities as CEO.
The most consequential strategic issue during the period was onsemi’s proposed acquisition of Allegro. The offer valued Allegro at $6.9 billion, but Allegro’s board unanimously indicated that the proposal was inadequate. The interview summary does not provide a detailed, attributed explanation of the board’s valuation analysis or a revised offer, so the public record supports the conclusion that Allegro was not accepting the proposal on those terms—not a claim that the companies had reached a negotiated transaction.
Allegro’s financial position
Allegro reported $725 million in fiscal-2025 sales for the 12 months ending March 28, 2025. Automotive revenue accounted for $544 million of that total, making vehicles the company’s largest reported business exposure.

| Measure | Reported result | Period and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Total revenue | $725 million | Allegro fiscal year ending March 28, 2025 |
| Automotive revenue | $544 million | Allegro fiscal year ending March 28, 2025 |
| Automotive sales change | 8% increase sequentially | Quarter ending March 28, 2025 |
| Industrial and other sales change | 9% increase sequentially | Quarter ending March 28, 2025 |
The sequential figures compare the quarter with the immediately preceding quarter; they are not year-over-year growth rates. Together, they show improvement in both of Allegro’s reported activity areas at the end of the fiscal year, while the full-year mix remained heavily automotive.
Where Allegro sees growth
Electric vehicles and e-mobility
Allegro supplies magnetic sensors, current-sensing devices, power-management ICs and related automotive components. Doogue identified e-mobility as a growth area, where higher-voltage drivetrains, battery systems, charging equipment and thermal management create demand for accurate sensing and power control.

The company reported several relevant design wins: its first Chinese automotive high-voltage isolated gate-driver win, TMR (tunneling magnetoresistance) wins in biomedical and xEV thermal-management applications, and a record number of electromechanical-braking wins. A design win indicates that a component has been selected for a customer program; it does not by itself establish production volume, launch timing or revenue.
Data-center power management
Data centers are another target because servers and accelerators require efficient conversion, monitoring and protection as power densities rise. Allegro’s power-management and current-sensing technologies can address portions of those systems, but the interview summary does not quantify data-center revenue, customer names or a forecast for this opportunity.
Clean energy, robotics and automation
Clean-energy equipment, robotics and industrial automation broaden Allegro’s addressable market beyond vehicles. These systems commonly need position, speed, current and magnetic-field measurements alongside compact power-management functions. Allegro’s reported 9% sequential increase in industrial and other sales for the quarter ending March 28, 2025 provides a near-term indicator of activity, but it is not proof that any single growth market caused the increase.
What products Allegro makes
Allegro’s portfolio discussed in the interview spans two connected functions: sensing physical conditions and managing electrical power.

- Magnetic sensors: Devices that detect position, speed, angle or current-related magnetic fields in automotive and industrial equipment.
- TMR current sensors: High-sensitivity magnetic sensing products cited in biomedical and xEV thermal-management design wins.
- Power-management ICs: Components that regulate, distribute or monitor power in systems such as vehicles, servers and industrial machinery.
- Isolated gate drivers: Devices that control high-power switching transistors while providing electrical isolation; Allegro reported its first Chinese automotive high-voltage isolated gate-driver win.
- Electromechanical-braking components: Sensing and control technologies used in braking systems, an area where the company reported a record number of wins.
What the onsemi proposal means for Allegro
The board’s unanimous view that the $6.9 billion proposal was inadequate leaves Allegro pursuing its strategy as an independent company unless the situation changes. Independence allows management to present its own growth plan around automotive electrification, industrial sensing and power management. It also leaves shareholders weighing Allegro’s standalone prospects against the value and certainty of a cash or stock acquisition offer.
The available interview summary does not state whether onsemi submitted a higher proposal, whether negotiations continued, or what valuation methodology Allegro’s board used. Those details should not be inferred from the rejection alone.

How to read the first-100-days record
Doogue’s opening period combines continuity and expansion: continuity through an internally promoted leader with deep Allegro experience, and expansion through a push into e-mobility, data-center power, clean energy, robotics and automation. The reported design wins provide evidence of customer adoption in selected programs, while the financial figures show that automotive remained the economic center of the business in fiscal 2025.
For investors, suppliers and engineering customers, the key indicators to watch are conversion of design wins into production, the pace of industrial and data-center revenue, and whether Allegro can deliver those opportunities without giving up strategic independence.
