ReeseEJ says they spent about 4.5 days of actual work building ShareFreeform, an AI app generator designed around people prompting and using the same live app together. The defining choice was shared state: anyone with an app link could join and see changes as they were made. The account, published September 23, 2026, also describes the defaults, omissions, and unknowns behind that early version.
Why ReeseEJ built ShareFreeform
In a DEV Community post published September 23, 2026, ReeseEJ says the idea followed a look through Y Combinator’s Requests for Startups list. The phrase “AI hasn’t had its multiplayer moment yet” caught their attention. They already had an idea for a collaborative app, and a free weekend gave them a reason to try building it.
The reported 4.5 days refers to the author’s estimate of actual work, not an independently audited schedule or a guarantee that another developer could build the same product in that time. ReeseEJ also says they had a Claude Pro subscription during the build; the post does not establish that the subscription caused the reported pace.
How the multiplayer approach works, according to the post
One app, shared live
ReeseEJ’s central product decision was to make collaboration happen in one live app rather than in separate drafts that are combined later. In the author’s words: “Every app gets a link the second it exists, and anyone with that link can hop in live with you.” As prompts change the app, participants using its link see the same version change. The post also says version history lets users return to earlier states.

How that differs from fork-and-merge
ReeseEJ contrasts ShareFreeform with what they describe as Lovable’s and Replit’s fork-and-merge collaboration: people work on individual drafts or tasks, then fold accepted changes together. This is the author’s characterization, not an independently tested comparison of those products. The post does not explain how ShareFreeform synchronizes simultaneous prompts, resolves conflicts, or implements its version history.
What generated apps use
The post reports that each generated app has an isolated sandbox and storage, with React, Vite, SQLite, and Node as the defaults. ReeseEJ says users can prompt to change those choices, but does not specify which alternatives are supported, the compatibility limits, or how generated apps are deployed.

The account also describes connecting personal API keys to Unsplash, which made the sandbox more interesting than the author expected. It does not explain how keys are stored, what access users receive, or how the sandbox is secured. The author’s description of isolation should not be read as a security guarantee.

Onboarding
ReeseEJ says they cut onboarding so the prompt box itself would explain the product. The post does not report how new users responded to that choice, so it is best understood as a design decision rather than evidence that onboarding was unnecessary.

Synchronization details
The author deliberately withholds the synchronization and collaboration internals, citing competitive reasons and limited testing. That leaves important technical questions unanswered, including how concurrent edits behave and what happens when updates conflict.
