The Eufy Security NVR System E50 is a wired, four-camera PoE kit built around a dedicated recorder, not the separate solar-powered SoloCam E50. It includes four PTZ cameras and a preinstalled 2TB drive for continuous local recording. In his September 30, 2026 hands-on review, Android Central senior editor Harish Jonnalagadda found it suited to covering a home and yard, while flagging a key limitation for buyers who rely on third-party NVR software: RTSP support was not available at review time.
What the Eufy NVR System E50 includes
Eufy’s NVR Security System E50 is a wired Power over Ethernet (PoE) bundle. The four cameras connect by cable to a dedicated network video recorder (NVR), which stores footage on its preinstalled hard drive. That makes this a different product from Eufy’s SoloCam E50, a separate solar camera.
The distinction matters when shopping: a shared “E50” name does not mean the devices have the same recording method or capabilities. This article concerns the wired NVR kit.
How the cameras and recording work
The NVR kit is designed for 24/7 local recording rather than relying only on motion-triggered clips or a cloud subscription. Eufy lists a 2TB hard drive in the system and says storage can be expanded up to 16TB. The capacity you need depends on how many cameras you connect, recording settings, and how long you want to retain footage; the product page does not establish a universal retention period.

The camera design combines fixed and movable views. In his review, Jonnalagadda describes a 2K fixed lens and a 4K movable PTZ lens with 360-degree rotation, a 65-foot range, and 5x zoom. He gives the fixed lens a 180-degree field of view. Eufy’s product page instead lists a 115-degree field of view for the 2K fixed lens; because those figures conflict, check the current product specifications rather than assuming either is universal.
The movable lens can follow detected subjects. Jonnalagadda reports that OmniTrack tracked subjects during his use, and that the app offered cross-camera tracking, multi-device viewing, familiar-face setup, and exclusion zones. Eufy describes these AI functions as running on-device, including facial recognition and cross-camera tracking, without cloud dependency for those functions. That is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent verification of the system’s broader privacy or security architecture.

What the hands-on review found
Jonnalagadda says the cameras covered his home’s exterior, produced clear footage, and sent instant motion alerts during his use. He also valued being able to access feeds and alerts remotely and the moving lens’s ability to track subjects. Those are observations from one reviewer’s installation, not a guarantee of coverage, image quality, alert speed, or tracking performance at every property.

He concluded: “On the whole, it’s a good choice if you need an all-in-one security camera system to cover your home and yard.” His assessment is most relevant to buyers starting with a complete PoE system and wanting local footage in one recorder.

RTSP and third-party NVR compatibility
At the time of Jonnalagadda’s September 30, 2026 review, the E50 cameras did not integrate with RTSP, a protocol commonly used to send camera streams to third-party recording systems. The reviewer reported that Eufy told him RTSP support was expected in a coming update, but the cited sources do not confirm that it has since shipped.
If you need to use a third-party NVR or software that depends on RTSP, verify current firmware and compatibility with Eufy before buying. Do not assume that a promised future update is already available.

- 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 | Once motion is detected, the camera automatically locks onto and tracks the moving object. Its pan-and-tilt system delivers 360° coverage, letting you see the whole room clearly from corner to corner.
- 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚 | Speak in real-time to anyone who passes via the camera’s built-in two-way audio.
Is a wired PoE kit the right fit?
PoE means a single cable can carry both network data and power to each camera, so the cameras do not need regular charging. The trade-off is installation: you need to route cables between camera locations and the NVR, which can take more planning or professional work than placing wireless cameras.
The E50’s dedicated recorder and local storage may appeal if you want continuous recording without making cloud storage the core of the system. A Wi-Fi camera setup may be easier to position, but it can use event-triggered recording or subscription-based cloud storage, depending on the product. These are different installation and recording approaches rather than a like-for-like performance comparison.

- 𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭-𝐏𝐓𝐙 𝐃𝐮𝐚𝐥-𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚 | The upper 2K fixed lens (115°) continuously monitors your entire property, while the lower 4K PTZ lens provides 360° tracking with 5× digital zoom to capture details up to 65 ft (20 m) away. Note: PoE Cam E50 Add-On Camera requires eufy NVR E50 to operate.
- 𝐞𝐮𝐟𝐲 𝐎𝐦𝐧𝐢𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 | The wide-angle lens detects activity, then the PTZ lens automatically locks on and tracks subjects with intelligent auto-framing, keeping action perfectly centered.
- 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬-𝐂𝐚𝐦 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 | Advanced cross-camera tracking seamlessly follows threats across multiple cameras when used with eufy NVR.
- 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐍𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐞 | Search keywords (person, vehicle, pet, or specific faces) to instantly find any moment—no scrolling through hours of footage.
- 𝐏𝐫𝐨-𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 | High-intensity warning lights activate when threats are detected, offering a stronger deterrent than standard white spotlights.
Jonnalagadda describes the E50 as an all-in-one option for buyers starting from scratch. He notes that Wi-Fi cameras can be added indoors through a separately sold Eufy Wi-Fi Module, but the four-camera PoE bundle does not require that accessory for its included cameras.
Quick Recap
What to check before choosing it
- Recording: Confirm that continuous local recording and an NVR suit your retention and access needs.
- Installation: Map cable routes and camera positions before deciding whether PoE is practical at your property.
- Coverage: Check the current field-of-view and movement specifications against the areas you need to monitor; the review and manufacturer differ on the fixed lens’s field of view.
- Interoperability: Verify RTSP and any third-party recorder requirements against current firmware, especially if those are essential to your setup.
- Privacy claims: Treat on-device AI processing as Eufy’s stated product behavior; it does not by itself establish every detail of data handling or security.
