What kind of fridge is the Electrolux EQE5657BA?
The EQE5657BA is an Electrolux UltimateTaste 700 quad-door refrigerator sold in Australia. Electrolux specifies a matte charcoal black door finish and charcoal grey cabinet. Its listed total capacity is 562L, with a four-door layout that separates the fridge and freezer compartments.
For capacity, Electrolux’s fact sheet gives 405L for the food compartment and 157L for the freezer. CHOICE lists a different split—409L fridge and 153L freezer—while also listing a 562L total. The figures appear to reflect different volume conventions; use one source’s breakdown rather than combining the numbers.

Electrolux lists the overall dimensions as 896 mm wide, 755 mm deep, and 1,795 mm high. The cabinet-only dimensions are 890 × 643 × 1,776 mm, so the overall measurements—not just the cabinet—are the useful starting point for checking the space.

The manufacturer lists a depth of 1,112 mm with a door open to 90 degrees and calls for 5 mm of air space above the total height. Although the product page says it can fit a standard 1,800 mm-high space, a nominal cavity height alone does not establish that installation will work. Check the installation information and allow for the required clearance, door swing, and the route into the kitchen.
- Measure the available width, height, and depth, including skirting boards, handles, cabinetry, and any protrusions.
- Check that doors can open far enough for access to shelves and drawers; the 90-degree-open depth is 1,112 mm.
- Measure the delivery route through entryways, hallways, and turns, not just the final cavity.
- Plan for a water connection before delivery if you intend to use the dispenser and ice maker.
Does the water dispenser or ice maker need plumbing?
Yes. Electrolux’s specification says a plumbed water supply is required. The product page describes an in-door WaterStream dispenser and an internal AutoIce maker; neither should be treated as a non-plumbed feature. Confirm that a suitable connection is available and clarify installation arrangements before ordering.

What storage and cooling features does it offer?
The EQE5657BA includes a convertible TasteSealPlus drawer with manufacturer-listed settings of -2°C, 0°C, and 3°C. The specification also lists quick freeze, quick chill, FastIce, drinks chill, frost-free operation, an inverter compressor, internal touch controls, and door alarms.
Electrolux describes its TasteLockAuto crispers as having automatic humidity control and says its EvenTemp system distributes air through the compartments. These are descriptions of intended functions, not independently established findings about food freshness, temperature consistency, or cooling performance.

What do its energy figures mean for running costs?
Electrolux lists a four-star energy rating. CHOICE lists claimed energy use of 406 kWh per year for the model. That annual figure is not a household bill: estimate the energy component by multiplying 406 kWh by your electricity tariff, then account for differences in use and conditions. Your retailer’s tariff and the way the refrigerator is used determine the actual cost.
Electrolux also says the model could save up to A$225 over 10 years compared with a three-star refrigerator. Its product-page footnote bases the estimate on an average NSW electricity price of 24.8 cents/kWh. Treat this as an indicative manufacturer comparison, not a guaranteed or typical saving; it may not match your state, tariff, or alternative model.

CHOICE identifies the EQE5657BA as a French-door, extra-large model tested in 2024. Its accessible listing shows the four-star rating, 406 kWh/year claimed energy use, a two-year warranty, Thailand as country of origin, and a listed price of A$3,499. That price is a page listing accessed on 7 October 2026, not a guaranteed current retail quote; the page showed no retailer prices or links.

Retailer and user-review pages provide anecdotes, not representative performance data. Andoo displayed an 84-review snapshot with selected positive comments about capacity and features as well as a comment about operating noise. ProductReview.com.au showed three reviews in its search-result snapshot; one described a breakdown and repair delay, and an Electrolux representative relayed a technician’s statement about a fault bulletin. These individual accounts do not establish a widespread defect, recall, or reliability rate.
What warranty and repair information is available?
Electrolux and CHOICE list a two-year domestic warranty. Warranty terms can change, so check the written terms applying to the model and purchase date before buying.
